To the owner of DV6, could anyone show a picture of the underside of this notebook? I want to see if it is easy to open the cover for some upgrade and cleaning? Thanks.

Personal advice for you, if you're more to gaming then DV6 is the choice while on the other hand, if you're more to multimedia then XPS15 would be the choice for you, as for the HP warranty, basically it covers almost every part of your laptop, only the drawback for HP warranty is, it doesn't provides the On-Site warranty which mean you have to send back the laptop to the HP service center by yourself. It doesn't voids your warranty if you change / upgrade your RAM as well as the HDD. Where do you plan to purchase your laptop? If in your nearest location, try to ask the seller whether they provide the deliver service for you or not, if they do then it should be okay, since many of the shop in lowyat provides this services for their customer, but now lowyat plaza has most of the services center like Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, and etc. So it's hassle free for the customer to send back their laptop.

You sure they don't offer onsite warranty?
Look at this: HP Onsite Support

I've just ordered my unit through online HP Store during this Music Matters promotion. Will PM TS to be included in the front page when my unit arrive.

I also notice that on the PO, the charges for the delivery to East Malaysia is RM 380 per unit, not RM 175 as stated on the website. doh.gif

These were screen cap from both the website and the PO I've received. The term stated on the website is RM 175.00 while the term on PO stated RM 380.00 (Term no. 9)

Not that it concern me in anyway as I'm in Klang Valley but buyer from East Malaysia should take notice of this.

Thanks for the reply, however I still need a more specific answer. smile.gif Anyone has experience with this?

According to the User Manual (page 7), Hard disk is classified as "End user replaceable part". Therefore it shouldn't void any warranty when the user replace it with another HD/SSD. But to be on the safe side, you better replace back the original component before you sent your notebook for warranty. We don't have a strong consumer law here in Malaysia.

Edited: should to shouldn't

Which means, if I add a SSD on my laptop, if anything happens I just replace back the original one, and get sent?
*
Yes. that's the idea.

Anyway, it is always advisable that you sent back your laptop for warranty in it's original specs.

fuyoh.. RM5,620  sweat.gif

i thought the blu-ray variant only rm4k+

That one is before the RM 1821.00 rebate under the Music Matter Promotion. The final price is RM 3799.00

This another link to the Normal Price unit without bundle with the printer/scanner/copier, 3 year warranty & MS Office Home & Student Edition. But the Blu-Ray really make both the DV6-6001TX & DV6-6108TX less attractive

may i know where is it mentioned about the rm1821 rebate? furthermore this 6114tx is upgradeable to 16gb... wow ... if the price is rm3799, then it's the same with 6004tx with beats, right?
*
It is a replacement for 6001tx. it suppose to have the same specs but the spec were released on their website yesterday (or today's early morning) that shows it can support up to 16Gb RAM (like 6108TX) and included a Blu-Ray Drive. The current Music Matters promotion includes a HP Deskjet 1050, 3 years Walk-in Warranty and 1 license MS Office 2010 Home & Student Edition. A top loading carrying bag and Beats Solo Headphone already included in this package. The promo is HERE. The rebate RM 1821.00 will be included when you use this code mymm6114TXSU77 on the your cart (under voucher at the bottom of your shopping cart page).

If they've release the 6114TX spec earlier, I would definitely choose this over 6108TX. D@mn.... cry.gif

Maybe next month but I think it will be selling at RM 3699 or lower (depend on your "hypnosis" power).

So the different will be

6108 vs 6114
RM 4,699 vs RM3,799
Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-2720QM  • 2.2 GHz vs Intel® Coreâ„¢ i7-2630QM • 2 GHz
8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (2 x 4 GB) vs 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (1 x 4 GB)
1 TB SATA (5400 rpm) vs 750 GB SATA (5400 rpm)
AMD Radeon HD 6770M (2 GB GDDR5 dedicated)  vs AMD Radeon HD 6770M (1 GB GDDR5 dedicated)

Is the different in spec justify the RM 900 price variance?

The reason I asking because I just place an order last 2 days for the 6108 where is I can swear that the 6114 spec was not been publish yet…  doh.gif

I'm in the same situation too.

The price different were worth it before the spec shown that 6114TX is also equipped with a Blu-Ray. Now the differences blurred out as it's about the same if you changed it manually.
Unless if they decide include a FHD monitor into the 6108TX drool.gif then the different is really worth it.

That's unfortunate. If they use QM65, maybe the Intel Anti-Theft Technology can be enable.
For me DDR3-1333 is enough, but 16Gb max RAM will be out of reach for a long time since it has only 2 slot. We have to wait for the appearance of 8Gb notebook DDR3 RAM and for the price to drop too.
Beside, to use 16Gb RAM, we'll need to upgrade to OS to Win7 Pro or Ultimate to fully utilise the RAM capacity.

Yes, Win 7 HP 64 bit can support up to 16GB but after excluding the graphic memory, only 13-15GB of RAM are available. It is more than enough but you have just wasted 1-2GB of the RAM.

Congratulation. I wish you a lot of patience. I'm still waiting for mine.
For the time being, I considering whether to upgrade the RAM later to unleash the beast.

You sent to HP Tower or their Depot (Mobility Solution branch)?

I can confirm that 6114Tx is priced the same as 6001Tx. Just went to Lowyat today and saw that MS (Mobility Solution) list that 6001Tx comes with free upgrade to Blu-Ray @ RM 3699.00 tongue.gif

Well, an Alienware M14x costs about the same, comes with a better GFX card than the DV6, awesome lighting, way way better build, and you know for a fact that you will be the only one in the neighborhood with an Alienware. Plus, Dell even comes to your house to pick up your laptop if you drop it in a pool....2 weeks later, new laptop arrives...FOC

Which is why the 6001tx is still the best variant for the DV6, for the others, you pay extra for hardly any performance increase.
*
I thought GT555m is almost equal with 6770m? Sorry to disappoint you, most thing comes from Dell for warranty is a refurbished unit/items. 6114Tx is now best variant of the DV6, but compare between 6108Tx and M14X, minus the bling-bling factor, I still prefer the 6108Tx.

all the items arrived separately? i checked the order status and the laptop is from China factory?
*
All should arrive from their source separately but will deliver to end user all at the same time.
It should take 14 working days (minus weekend) from your ordering date unless your payment clearance have problem or delayed.
The factory is Flextronics Computing in Suzhou, China.
I will able to confirm it tomorrow since it will arrive tomorrow drool.gif . Wonder what is the mystery gift? A 2/4Gb thumbdrive?
