Okay, good news; yes, it should be able to be played, assuming that alienware m15x mentioned at the bottom of your post is the laptop you are referring to.

The bad news; It would need some cut backs like the details, anti-aliasing, and so on would need to be toned down.

My M11X R2 i5 core can play Battlefield 3 Multiplayer with medium setting @ 1360 x 768 resolution
but on Campaign, I have to tweak down to low - medium setting to get it smooth, weird.

Hmm weird, I found that I got lower FPS in MP compared to SP.

Dayum! Your cpu cooler than my i5. Mine can goes up to 82 for cpu while gpu max was 69 when playing crysis 2.
