Has any M15x owner here attempted to change their video card to HD 6970M? julchin_09, perhaps? hmm.gif

Yes, I realize that there is a dedicated thread in NotebookReview, but it may not be entirely applicable to us Malaysians. One problem may be that is it possible to obtain the card from Dell Malaysia? Most probably not, I guess.

Any additional information on this matter is very much appreciated. thumbup.gif

Edit: Thanks to Lil Kiasu for pointing out my mistake.

Get it only if your main concern is about portability and not gaming nod.gif
Below are some drawbacks:
1. Very loud fan when on load
2. Screen refresh rate and performance drops significantly when on battery
3. High performance on battery will cause auto-shutdown
4. M14x with normal HDD will get hot on the right palm rest
5. Keyboard and touchpad lights doesn't light up during start up (only applicable to advance lighting settings)
6. Buttons are abit far apart (my own opinion hehe) laugh.gif

Other than that, its basically a very awesome 14" machine thumbup.gif

I meant if you emphasize portability over gaming, then get the M14x.
If not, you'd probably be better off with the much better Asus, Sager models (can get GTX560M already with that budget). Perhaps even the AW M15x nod.gif

1, memory cheap a lot bigger(means hotter), 2, ddr3 not fast enough even for 1.5GB(ddr5 doesnt helps a lot as just help on momory bandwidth) so migh improve in higher resolution, but ur M14x max is 1600x900, unless u wan go for 2560x1440 like mine, my GTX580 ddr5 1.5gb runs games at 400MB only

Not bad la, just not worth it laugh.gif
Though even till now there's no benchmarks actually proving whether there's a difference between 1.5GB and 3.0GB... sweat.gif
