QUOTE(GreaseMonkey90 @ Apr 23 2011, 03:14 PM) would u even wanna carry a dual socket 330W psu around? plus, you would get alot of power cuts (auto shutdown) in due to the amount of power needed just to power your dual 485s and desktop i7. +1. Some how i prefer mobile sandy bridge more than desktop i7. M18x no longer portable compare to laptop but it is still portable ckmpare to desktop. But with the money i rather go for a desktop+laptop |

QUOTE(Devina_8 @ Apr 23 2011, 05:29 PM) me?? for the np7280? well my friend got it from xotic pc around 3800USD...i want to spend around 3500USD to a 100 more or less, but i am waiting to see, how the m18x would act in market and how will people say about it, becuz its first time producing, once to buy is a bit risky, specially if its a Desktop Replacemnt due to many issue such as cooling and driver supports and BIOS and so on.... . so far i am interested in np7280 since i worked with it, which is for my friend, and it really satisfied me, i would prefer performance to a fleshy and eye cath desing generally and build quality. paying 3500USD for a laptop and seldom bring outside, what a waste. i use RM3000 can get double performance for the laptpo u getting. |

QUOTE(Devina_8 @ Apr 23 2011, 05:50 PM) i cant really get a clue of your post...of course as i mentioned DTRs are not for carrying outside...and you WOULD SPEND only yup, i can spend RM3000 to build a desktop performance double of ur laptop. Core i7 2500k i clocked to 4.5ghz with stock cooling. with GTX580. might not be double performance, vantage comfirm over 30k, if pay a little bit more for better mobo can clock to higher rate, where ur laptop can perform the most at 23k for vantage. |

QUOTE(Devina_8 @ Apr 23 2011, 06:25 PM) i thought you are talking about a laptop...well in that case is not fair to compare a high-end laptop Raio-Price-Bulid to a desktop, desktop can be 3000 to over ply 15K with same spec that u are talking, yes it depends on person, i am international student and i dun prefer having desktop, in my own country my brother having spec of i7 990EX and dual GTX 480 perhpas around 6000RM ... lol but i was talking about laptop, what i tried to say it was i am not satisfied with alienware specifications !!! for example offering a single 460m in m17x is a total waste of buy, not enough power...they better use at least 480m .... nice ncie, BTW what i know m18x would started with RM8999 if started in malaysia. some how last time i spent almost 16k for a laptop, i think too waste d. hahahayes its ture friend, everybody almost had that problem, but nowadays with having the newest BIOS, i guess before supporting of 6970m BIOS, temp are running cool + power consumption with recommended additional PSU and convertor box for 485m SLI and 6970m CF users, there are no problem ! mabey you could wait, cuz as i mentioned i did try with my friend's np7280 and there wasnt any problem with having 600WAT !!!!!!!! even for 470m SLI users may be require of they wish OVERCLOKING and pushing their np7280 limitations to further more of what it acts. personally as far as i asked people who are having SLI and CF in np7280 and my own experiment there are no problem, BUT for sure against to upcoming m18x ... for having a powerhouse np7280 you may require to sacrifice beauty and weight and HUGE MONSTERICAL PSUs and power adapter to a huge better performance. about not being efficient of core i7 desktops at laptops i do agree...but i guess they would use more power of a SLI scale and CF scale of powerful cards like 6970 and gtx 485 over a Mobility Sandy-Bridge, how much i am not sure...wait to c the m18x results and bechmarks soon at Notebookcheck ! should be something around 1000RM for a good Config...low or less, it would start at 2000USD something for sure, add on up to 3000USD i guess for having nice specs thats y i go for desktop and a laptop and a bunch or Alienware watching me using my desktop. haha |

QUOTE(GreaseMonkey90 @ Apr 24 2011, 03:30 AM) because there are no laptops with a SB proc and dual gpu yet. so m18x will be the 1st. the x7200 was never a full scale flagship laptop. i was an experimental by looking at it. they did an absolute wonderful job at making a wee x58 board size and slap a desktop proc on it. but know the inefficiency of a desktop chips on a laptop, aw opted out. i dont think your wish of an aw with desktop processor is goin to happen for any time. it is also pointless at this time to insert a hexacore processor in a laptop as it has minimal utilization for all six core. most games run perfectly of 2 and 4 cores. the other 2 has little or no usage thus making it a liability for the system. yup, some how on the desktop if wanna overclock only available for 980x or 990x, other proccessor have to use software.and of course....u wont see any of a dsktp proc on an AW laptop becos of their flagship auroras and alx. putting these processors means that their desktop would make minimal impact on the market or the other way around. both has its pros n cons. even though have 6 cores, even the metro 2033 or Crysis 2 only used up to 4 threads only. i prefer SB in notebook because of batterylife(switchable graphic card within intel 3000 and the dedicated GC), i doubt that X7200 can stand more than 1 hour in maximum performance and i think cant even stand for 2 hours for performance saving even less. m18x will never my idea laptop, since gonna get it for review only, taking a 18.4" laptop i rather get a desktop. but m17x-R# is a good performance and able to portable(but still i think no need such a high end PC) since when we go out for gaming we not going to use the dedicated graphic card(battery life concern), if we gonna use, we need to find plugs. go out for few hours gaming, lower graphic card should be ok, and i think not all of out friend having good PC/laptop to play game with us, so normal laptop would do. My XPS 15 serve me well |

QUOTE(Rowan23 @ Apr 26 2011, 01:59 PM) well, once u get the laptop just plug and play, if u wish to use it directly, then unplug the battery, plug in the adaptor to use.remember, whenever u use laptop with battery, after using it, remember to recharge it back(eventhough u used for 20% only), dont ever finish up ur battery charge |

QUOTE(Rowan23 @ Apr 26 2011, 06:00 PM) haha, cheers bro....nah, i'm not a hardcore Dota fan, although i do play HoN from time to time...i'll be playing Dragonage, Mass Effect and some other games out there!... even on plane, same theory applied, battery out and plug in. to prevent heat damage ur batteyrright, but what if i'm on a plane? my company just informed me i might have to go to Germany on 9th of May (technically, that is the week that i am supposed to receive my laptop), and i heard that there are power ports on planes now, so i hope i can game a bit on it. umm, my specs are following the Dell in HK, but i'll list it out for you anyway. i7-2720QM, 17.3 Full HD LCD panel, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 2 GB AMD Radeon HD6970M, 2*750GB 7200RPM HDD, Blu-ray disc drive. I got it for about HKD 24,520, convert it back to RM, it should be around RM9,437? |
