i just bought a HU Pioneer 2150 UBG frm a car audio shop. The installation was good and works out fine. What really bugs me is, when I was thinking of buying the Ipod Cable recommended from the mechanic. So i could connect with the HU but i want to test out the sound quality between using the Ipod cable and using a USB pen drive to justify the purchase. but the mechanic wont let me to test it out. So is it normal practice for any car audio shop not letting customers to test it ?

yea, cos if they open the package and let u test and u dun buy, it can onli be sold as a demo unit with lower price. dats why most shop dun let u test, especially when some cheap fellas trying to be funny, testing every amp b4 buying is unpractical. if they installed the amp d, and u dun like, are u willing to pay for the workmanship? but as far as i know, like craziechild knows a shop in sarawak dat is willing to let him test for free. lucky him.smile.gif

Yes, i understand that.
But 1 more thing i want to point out is he did use his demo ipod cable on their demo HU unit which was 7150 to test it out with my ipod. but he wont let me test it with my 2150 after the installation. I dont know why is that since he can use it on their 7150.

^Simple as that. He don't let you test, don't buy from him.

Added on November 29, 2009, 10:07 amCheap fellows or not, I not agree with this. We as consumer have the rights to test it out. Just imagine, this cable is not cheap, once pay and plug in but cannot support then how?

especially cables even harder to test. maybe in my place the service is like dat, if wanna try a few hi end ones, potong like 5 types of his cables, sure he oso not syok. unless u r regular customer then different story. got even once i've tried to test a famous shop, i went in dressed very cincai, typical malaysian T shirt, shorts and slippers biggrin.gif i asked for quotation, salesgirl din know sh1t, asked the cashier(i supposed it's the manager), wanted to consult a specialist about setting up my system, then she give all sorts of excuses, the sifu busy, cannot test this cannot test dat, cannot discount, must 'see' ur car first onli can make quotation, imagine a simple woofer box with various odd colors fake leather cost rm350-500, Helix A4 was close to rm8k. was wondering how these ppl do business, then later i get to know all their customers are driving big cars, those dat dun look at price tags, neva saw a single proton in the workshop... smile.gif

Yeah exactly i didnt bought it. but to be fair i already bought the HU from him already, so why i cant just test the cable since he already have a sample.
Well in the end, dont want to make a fuss of it.

Hey Mechanic, since you are here often in lowyat forum giving comments. here's a comment to you, eventhough ur service is good at the beginning but at the end you ruined your reputation, and giving me a rude remark by saying "No, Cannot test" (In a Lan Ci way). If any of my friends asked me recommendation for setting up ICE i wont vote for you.

^Hope you are not refering me as that Mechanic......

Basicly, your 2150 is the lowest end model for 2009 with less functions(but compare to earlier, it still ok because can support USB directly) and it don't have IP-Bus connections. So it can't connect to certain external device(CD-IB100 for example).
Read the manual just now, it never state Ipod control, so you can't control Ipod device I guess.

Anyway, talking about compressed audios, it is hard to say which is good. More important is the encoders we used. But still, loseless will be the best.

If a salesman knows his products well, sure he won't give you a "lan ci" way. He will try his best to tell you all the details. Alot of people may open an acc shop(is kinda easy nowadays), but to get a person with alot of knowledge is pretty hard.

nop ur not the "mechanic'.since you have mentioned this 2150 cant use the HU to control the IPOD. Because he said can control with the IPOD cable, which he wont let me try after the installation, because i want to justify the purchase and the sound quality difference with USB pen drive and with my IPOD. As he said, it is the same functionality with 5150/7150 which he did showed me controlling my Ipod with their demo 7150 but not the sound quality since i prefer to test it out with my own speakers after the HU installation.

I am a aware that 2150 is the most basic HU, i considered 5150/7150 before but im using stock perodua speaker only.
If i chose 7150, is like giving me quad mufflers but only using a 1000cc engine. Overkill right?

It would be nice for him to say "Sorry, company policy wont let us to let you try" Than im satisfied with the answer. Just dont tell me off "NO, Cant try" ,eventhough he has a demo cable. I just dont understand how he do business. Too bad for him, initially i thought he was ok but in the end he "phailed"

^Yup, agree with you on this. But with such policy is still same, useless and not professional. Like me, I start to sell Visaton speakers after I done a deep research on them before I agree to help my supplier to sell.
Doing research on a product before you sell them is the way to prevent potential problems. Atleast a person is ready to answer rather than say no directly.

5k for Loud and Clarity.. No need for in-car movies, not a fan of that, no need for head unit, already own a pioneer one, bought it few months back for 800

MyWifeCar, there are HU dat can watch DVD and gud for SQ at the same time. but it is very expensive at the same time. one of it is Pioneer 9800, can't remember the full model number. it is almost rm6k or so. some alpine double din is also quite gud as well.
