Hi guys,

Just to share this knowledge

Any parcel coming into Malaysia
<RM500 - no formal entry required
Which means the courier service that receive your parcel will do a pre clearance even before the goods arrive.
But still MY customs still has the right to inspect the goods randomly. ie. iParcel sent 100 packages to Malaysia at 1 time, 10% will be picked for inspection, randomly.

>RM500 - require formal entry.
The courier service that receive the parcel must prepare custom form and declare to custom and get approval for release. Normally custom officer doesn't inspect the goods physically. Just based on description on commercial invoice and custom form...... This is the tricky part.... If their mood is not good or they suspect something is amiss, then they'll open the package and inspect lor...

Hope this helps!

Yeah, just to add..

Throughout 2006-2010 , i never had problems with customs interfering the items nor checking the boxes from Amazon..during late 2010 only problem was the i-Parcel delivery. Apart from that Amazon UK is the most efficient ones..delivers faster. Some arrived within 8 days, 7 days , even 6 days..

Above all this, my Bollywood parcels comes through customs as well, via DHL..even rm2k stuff never been tampered. Situations differs for every items shipped into Malaysia.

Whether you get through or been called up to pick up..based on my personal experience..

Guys,

LOTR Trilogy Extended Edition is priced at US$83.99 @ AMZ US while it is C$64.99 @ AMZ CA.

The only thing is - the AMZ CA version is released by Alliance, as opposed to New Line Cinema in the US.

Would there be any difference in terms of quality of the transfer? Or is it merely just being distributed by Alliance in Canada?

What do you guys think?

I doubt there are differences in terms of quality of transfer.
It could be, as you said, distributed by Alliance in Canada..

Do you know if both of the releases makes any difference? Or just distributing studio?

Alliance release ain't bad and I am sure the PQ & AQ is the same. smile.gif

It could be only different distributor but same source material.

I am more wonder on the packaging.

Thanks mate. Comforting words indeed. Packaging looks about the same on blu-ray.com but of course the Canadian release would have some info in French as well (alongside English) on the box.

Just want to ask some advice. I understand that if we limit the value of our our package to below RM500, there will not be any custom tax.

What if I have a number of pre-orders, from different Amazon which the value of these combine parcels are above RM500 and they could be reaching on the same time - as the estimated date stated is the same week! It may or may not be the same day but right now, the estimated date only state the same week.

Would I kena tax in that case? Any body can share some experience.
*
just want to share u what happened to me in 2009. i made 2 orders 4 days apart from Amazon where each order was only RM300+ but the first order was despatched late due to unavailability of one item... and so happen dat the 2nd order was shipped out the same day as the 1st one!

So both arrived on the same day and the total accumulate to about RM700+... so kena tahan Mr Ketam!!?! ketam officer told me eventho each parcel less than RM500, but still kena becoz both to same address/recipient! i ended at Pos, Immigration & KDN almost a day and had to fork out RM90+ on tax & etc....
