I bought a house last year and right now I'm paying interest every month to bank so do I need to fill it in under housing interest?
*
if the house is purchased for own stay, your first house and you are not renting it out, and the purchase is between march 31 2009 to dec 31, 2010, you are eligible to claim the housing loan interest - the amount of interest paid can be obtained from the bank you are loaning from.

I just found out 2 things.
1 major issue is the e-form doesn't allow me to "re-input" my postcode. As I've changed address, I can enter all the lines except for the postcode field. sweat.gif What I did is on the last address field, I add in the postcode. Hope they noticed.

Another highlight is the new PCB scheme. It's really a lot. I tried not putting so much deduction except for the default RM8k, EPF/Insurance RM6k and Medical Insurance RM3k; viola it's a surplus. Last time, still need to adjust here and there. Now no need. Don't know whether its good or bad. wink.gif
*
EPF can deduct too? How do they calculate EPF deduction? unsure.gif

I've found 'Life Insurance and EPF' but don't quite get it.

Do you know where can I refer to, a more detailed tax relief. Like it stated there 'Purchase of sport equipment for sport activities', I have no idea what kind of sport equipment can I buy. And I have no clue what is self dependent, basic supporting equipment, ordinary child relief and a few more.

Hey guys,

I still haven't declare my income tax yet because my earnings last time haven't reached the amount yet but this year I need to do so. I heard there will be a fine upon offender like me. sweat.gif How much?

Will be going to the Klang Branch to declare my income tax.

What are the things needed to bring? Do I need to bring passport size photos? Please advise on this.

Another question, normally when do they announce the new income tax relief deduction? The things that we can deduct from (i.e. PC, books and etc.)

I know the recent submission for last year was in Feb, so they will announce the new one in the month of January?

So far I only know about EA and BE forms in this thread. I've just received a EA form from one of my previous company.

Let say in the previous year, I've worked with 2 different company but I only have one EA form, the other didn't send to me. Can I use my pay slip as proof? Or no matter what EA form must be submitted together with BE? And, what if I don't have both EA and pay slip? ohmy.gif

* An example, let say if a person earning RM6,000 per month, RM72K annually, roughly about how much the person need to pay for tax?

I'm new to income tax.

Thanks.

Yes, EPF can be deducted. There will be a column in your EA form (from your company) stating the amount of EPF that you have contributed. With that value, you insert it into your tax form accordingly - Under "Life Insurance and EPF" (Max of RM5000 is not mistaken).

What it means by Life Insurance + EPF is that if you purchase insurance (let say medical and life insurance), your insurance company will send you a letter indicating the amount of premium that you have paid over the year as Life Insurance. With that amount, u add it up together with your EPF contribution.

The rest i'll leave it to others to explain them for you because i'm not really sure either.

Each individual is allowed an amount of relief for each year based on the following formula:
A x B
C
where;
A = total interest allowable in the relevant year;
B = total interest expended by the relevant individual in the relevant year;
C = total interest expended by all the individuals.

A = RM 10000 (max allowable)

Example, in year 2009, you paid RM5000 for the house interest and your wife paid RM5000;
C = Total interest = RM10000

Your amount of relief = RM10000 x RM5000/RM10000 = RM5000
Your wife amount of relief = RM10000 x RM5000/RM10000 = RM5000

I guess it should be like that, correct me if I am wrong.

Urgent inquiries here!!

Is the Housing Loan interest deduction applicable for the house which bought on 2006?

And, how can I check back my previous year income tax submission? I forgot which year I claimed for the personal computer.
*
Housing Loan Interest relief is only applicable for S&P signed between March 2009 - Dec 2010..

you can check out my calculator to get an idea on how the tax are calculated.. tongue.gif

EA form should be your basis to pay tax as it will declare the amount paid to you and also other tax exempted allowance provided to you as well as KWSP contributions.

I suppose using payslip is possible but when audited (if ever you are audited) you shall need to do a lot of explaining.. biggrin.gif

They have a new PCB table now. It's different from previous two years ago.
