Finally got my "little black" yesterday. Everything was good except for the noise. The start up noise in the morning was quite disturbing; like starting a pick up truck. The cabin noise is also quite high, maybe due to the "Dunlop" tires. Other than this, luv it!

I got my car today. When i drive till 50km/h, the cabin is very noisy most probably due to tire, but i'm wandering the tire is brand new. i gues the noise insulation also not that good. doh.gif

almost all new car's tyres are over inflated which contributed to the tyre noise problem.
i have recently experienced a new prius rolled out from the showroom at 45psi for all 4 tyres!

My fake lancer when got it was 270kpa, but still no tire noise even at 120km/h.
Best of all, I only check the pressure after 2 weeks driving it.
It is nothing to do much with tire over inflated or not, if the car are using stripped off parts, it will still pick up noise even your car are stopped.
CKD Jazz are the same if were compare to CBU Jazz.
Sorry to say, if you think that only Proton will have sub standard spare parts, Nissan also got and the quality are on par with Proton(in terms of low quality) shakehead.gif

case by case, not all cars are built the same, especially when the design, material and performance are vastly different.
As for the prius, after getting the tyres back to the suggested pressure, the road/tyre noise and bumpiness is resolved.

That's the main difference between CBU and CKD. It is shame that our country are 1 of the rubber exporter but can't make good quality rubber seal.

The engine noise during start up in the morning & during acceleration are really disturbing. Is there anyway to reduce it?

ASX is more sedan like since it's based on Inspira chassis

CRV is a bit higher, and feels "safe", turns slowly, but confidently

Shouldn't the reference be made to Lancer chassis instead? Your statement sounds like Mitsubishi copied Proton. biggrin.gif

What has that got to do with the quality of rubber seal used?

How good or bad the CKD manufacturer's build quality depends on how much they want to cut price. Not because Malaysia is incapable of producing good rubber seal.

Depends on road conditions as well. Never sat in a CBU before. Better sound proofing?

For sure yes. Tested both of them on Seremban's Rahang branch, the road condition are quite poor.
That's the difference between it is assembled by Mitsubishi(CBU) and TCM(Proton's best competitor on providing low built quality vehicles beside P2).

Check with KLAuto on sound proofing and autofoam. To do bonnet and front for engine noise will cost around RM1400. They said can reduce 25% of noise and it's noticeable.

Not sure whether should go for it or not. Anyone has any experience with this?

Go for it, rm1400 to settle noise(in your dream), why not whistling.gif
rubber seal low quality : checked
expensive parts stripped and use low quality parts : checked

What you need is silicone gum and seal the windows, then you will get 50% of noise reduction thumbup.gif

After washing the car, if water goes into the brake rotor or pad, it tends to produce a knock when you try to reverse the vehicle. Then it's okay. Happened to my kenari before this as well. Normal?
