Texas Flood is amazing considering it was recorded in... about 3 days?? However the studio environment doesn't really capture Stevie's energy, his live vids are 10 times better! The El Mocambo DVD is a must for Stevie fans, if you haven't seen it, be prepared to be blown away. The true Guitar God of the 80s.

I even have Robert Johnson in there somewhere...... some B.B. King..... lotsa Ray Charles......Allman Brothers (figures..... since Zakk was a one-night-only member of the ABB).... Prince......

And then you get the genuine "Huh?" moments when you start seeing Frank Sinatra.... TONS of Elvis....Bee Gees....... Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.... Tim McGraw.......Phantom of the Opera soundtrack (both Movie AND Broadway version)......

Not to mention the obscure Boy bands (GREAT when I was seducing chicks back in the days) right next to Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Sentenced and of course BLS..... Sabbath.....

A VERY Diverse iPod indeed......

Haha it's good to be diverse... my Zen Micro has everything from Norah Jones to Dragonforce to Avril Lavigne. And I love them all.

The Allman Brothers... Duane Allman, his slide playing is always jawdropping.

I'd recommend each album starting from 1964 till 2006 but just try and pick up his latest album "Modern Times"

Some good 2006 albums I've heard...

John Mayer - Continuum
- His best studio album to date and has more than enough bluesy licks to satisfy Hendrix & SRV fans. A very bluesy & r&b-ish album. Highly Recommended.

Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
- Politic-charged, fresh arrangements & great guitar riffs to boot on. There are quite a number of synthesizer parts in this album compared to the previous one but they complement the songs very well. And that track Knights of Cydonia... one word - EPIC.

My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade
- Very dark album, in fact the first track reminds me of Pink Floyd's The Wall. However this is NOT your typical emo band, the guitars are huge, the solos are directly from Brian May's book and lyrics are about death and depression. If that's your thing, you'ill like this album.

Hey there, yeah i've heard the latest album. I've to say its not one of his best albums, but the songs are much more agressive as compared to space ship one. It is still though a good album to check out check out these few songs(some songs have essences of satch, maybe pix might like it ). Rusty Old boat, get out of my yard(the first 38 seconds consists of highly impossible appregios and string skipping which sounds bloody cool), echo song...ahh just check out the whole album yourslef

Trivium's The Crusade and Lamb of God's Sacrement were surprisingly good this year...... different from what we're used to from the bands, but good metal nonetheless.

Oh..... and who can forget Dragonforce's Inhuman Rampage....... those solos are just INHUMAN indeed.

Yes... I won't apologize for that, it's my honest opinion. Just listen to the first track. You could say that the lead singer's influenced by Roger Waters, one way or another.

Everdying, if I told you Nick Drake's music is dark, what would you think? It's the lyrical content that's dark, not the surface.

Opps, I just realize I sounded a bit pissed on the last post... After a whole day in library and night jam session, I guess I'm really exhausted now. But if you thought that I was any way pissed or anything, I didn't mean it.

I'm not a fan of the album actually, but some of the tracks took me by surprise, espcially the first one. Nonetheless, if you're not a fan of My Chemical Romance, it might not suit you. The guitarist isn't too bad, surprisingly!

Am also getting pretty hooked on the Artic Monkeys right now. Pretty good if you're into that kind of music.

MCR is just another band that's evolving that New Jersey vibe. Perhaps their penchant for theatrics are similar in vein, but comparing their music?

Anyways, what is 'emo band' anyway? I've heard it being mentioned so many times?

Also, whats with 'Rock Shows' on MTV and V? The trailers for the show features bands like KISS, G'N'R, etc etc but when you watch it, its full of wussy teen poppish music whose descriptions include 'rock', 'heavy', 'punk' blah blah blah which is total dogs bollocks. How does Keane end up on a 'Rock Show'?

Do these programme directors need an education in music or are they merely succumbing to peer pressure from current 'rock' enthusiasts?

I've even heard of the New Jersey sound being called 'punkish'. WTF!
