May I know anyone using Asus U series?
Sifu lee, can you give me your opinion about U series?
I'm thinking to buy U36, I need a light weight laptop and I don't mind it did not have internal dvdrw.
I don't play game. Just for document editing, internet, sometime photoshop.

U36 is fine choice if you don't mind the older processor..

Lol, you got a point there. Maybe G43SW Rev A then. xD
Hmmm... that's like really hot even compared to mine without a cooler.

ya..very hot indeed...but idling is ok..cpu 37-40+..gpu 43-45 only..maybe bcoz of the game..but my gpu never reach 90....85+- for several time when do crysis 2 in very high gfx..the cpu always hotter than gpu in gaming...i thought gpu works harder in game?

Most likely the heatsink placement, where the heat transfer from GPU to CPU then to fan..

I'm using U41SV, one of the latest in this series smile.gif a fine companion. Light (2.2kg) + good backpack + long battery life = extreme portability. This model has good build quality, better than the older ones I think.

Not to mention that the U41SV feels more solid than the U36JC.

Bro i think you are quite pro on Asus since you are the thread starter. I'm really stuck with Asus and Acer now in decision of getting a laptop.

Can you let me know which should i choose? I mean Asus model. Budget must be below rm3000 and more on gamings.

so far decision is still on this few model :

1) Asus A53SV-SX106V - i5
2) Asus A43SV- SX028V - i7
3) Acer 4830TG Timeline - i5

Actually i also can pay extra for N53SN - i7 but got 2 major problems.

1) Keyboard i totally cant accept.
2) I heard this model is phase out? WIll they come back with new model with better keyboards?

gaming = emphasize more on GPU...

CPU is not as important...

besides i dun really like 4830TG due to the battery... integrated battery + dedicated GPU is a bad combo imho... when u run an intensive program, the heat produced by the CPU and GPU will affect the battery, and since there's no way u can remove the battery in 4830TG, it's like cooking it, and heat has been proven to be bad for battery cells...

if u really want the battery AND performance of 4830TG, take a look at U41SV...

pure performance wise N53SN is the clear winner here (quad core + GT 550M)... it's the current model in the market now... but the others won't be too shabby either since GT 540M and GT 550M are essentially the same GPU...
