Glossy makes it hard to work with under certain lighting conditions and angles. Matte is pretty awesome.

Anyone here have the A43SV-VX028V i7 review?
With price tag 2999 but in A series category, there must be good about it

I heard it is altec lansing built in speaker, is it true?
*
i'm interested to know as well. this is 14" running i7.

but too bad the altec lansing really sucks.

current user here, i can give u a short pros and cons about it..

pros:
very study, i would say as sturdy as current N series  biggrin.gif
i7 woot!
nice chicklet keyboard
big and smooth mousepad
in aircon room, palmrest is really ice cool

cons:
huge power brick
weird placement of power supply port( to the right of vent)
might not have optimus...
sucky speakers
slightly heavier than average 14", due to build quality
no usb 3.0

overall very satisfied, i can live with most of the cons, just annoyed no optimus  smile.gif

i m trying to find info on asus laptop.

but too bad, their site is very misleading and i cant find much info about A series model. You sure that it has HDMI pot?

Btw, got lag while using multitasking? cos as i know this model is using i7 6m cache memory. should be very fast!

the DDR3 ram is upgradable?

sorry for many noob questions cos i m deciding which laptop to go for.

USB 3.0 is reserved for G series and N series... and still, it's optional on N series...
*

u mean upgrade to ddr5 or upgrade to 8gb?  biggrin.gif  well its upgradable to 8gb..yea pretty sure, but i think u should clarify with someone who knows better ie a user.
About multitasking well...so far no lag but i don't have time to try big stuff on it yet...after my exams, will start installing games, cad software, rendering softwares, and video editing  rclxms.gif
*
why you choose this model at the first place?

basically this model is same spec as 5750g. and at the same price. So i was thinking which model should take -.- 14" seems like too small for gaming.

and btw, optimus technology is important?

hm...didn't i just list down the stuff i wana install? i'm not installing them for the sake of testing out my i7 mind you, i do use them for my work. Anyway i'm ok with gaming with 14". As for optimus well...even without it can get a max of 4 hours battery life with wifi, lowest brightness and battery saving. Just that wont help reduce temps. I get about high 40s to mid 50s at idle with cooling fan. In aircon room can drop another 10 degrees.

i'm one of those who gave up waiting for n43sl  tongue.gif  besides, n43sl no i7 anymore...and this looks good enough for me.
*
wow 4 hours? omg that is suppose to be enough. well well well, real real real hard decisions to be made. but one thing is i seriously hate this altec lansing speakers., vmad.gif vmad.gif

both 14" but spec different in processor. See whether i want to save for my dad haha icon_idea.gif

Btw guys sorry for the noob question. Both of this laptop can plug into LCD screens? i'm using 22" samsung and plan to using this monitor for my laptop.

Not to mention that the U41SV feels more solid than the U36JC.

Bro i think you are quite pro on Asus since you are the thread starter. I'm really stuck with Asus and Acer now in decision of getting a laptop.

Can you let me know which should i choose? I mean Asus model. Budget must be below rm3000 and more on gamings.

so far decision is still on this few model :

1) Asus A53SV-SX106V - i5
2) Asus A43SV- SX028V - i7
3) Acer 4830TG Timeline - i5

Actually i also can pay extra for N53SN - i7 but got 2 major problems.

1) Keyboard i totally cant accept.
2) I heard this model is phase out? WIll they come back with new model with better keyboards?

Basically, Astria has pretty much summed it all up. If you have a problem with the keyboard then that would be an issue as you'll be stuck with it for a while.

The alternative is the U41SV. A normal chiclet keyboard but it packs a GT540M which is good enough for anytime you can throw at it.

And then it got heavier for some weird reason...  sweat.gif

ok thanks. so the N is really phased out?

just read the specs of U41SV. what is so special? Why it is priced at rm2899?

1 more thing on Asus, there is lack of info on the website. and it is very misleading. until now i still cant confirm whether the A43SV/A53SV is aluminium silver or black in the inside.

I pm 2 sellers Hikari and Netherless. Both says it is black in colour ( whole black even interior ) but when i check at Lowyat building and PC FAIR it is aluminium silver in the keyboard panel.

and still i cant find many info on A43SV-SX028V.

i dont mind la erm for the little bit of weight. its okay.

i want higher specs. 14" i think at least can last 2-3 hours rite? its okay for me if the battery can last like normal 14" laptops.

Meaning that without optimus this model I use for gaming can last only less than 2 hours? That suppose to be little. Why always everything is not perfect? If this model have optimise and 3.0 USB then no need think Liao

With Optimus also won't last that much when gaming, since  you still be using nVidia for games...
Pretty much gaming on any notebook with decent spec won't last long on battery...
*
Ic so let say I use this 14" a43sv i7 gaming from 100% battery how long would it use up to 0%? Just approximately la

quad core and running discrete GPU all the time? it's gonna be slightly hotter compare to laptops with Optimus..

Added on April 24, 2011, 2:27 am

1 hour or less probably
*
If a 14" laptop can only last up to 1hour or less in gaming that's normal? Becos my friend's 5750g 15.6" can last for 1 hour 20 mins in full gaming condition. Haha Izit Becos of the optimus? cool.gif

Its not because Optimus.
If gaming, the battery life will be the same whether there is Optimus or not. In fact, with Optimus, battery life will be lower since it need to power up Intel HD + nVidia at the same time...

Unless you are talking non-gaming task, then Optimus will make differences...
