I'd got a similar call as well few years back.
A guy claiming from RHB called me, said that I have a credit card with RHB and owing them rm4k and ask for payment immediately. They came prepared with my IC No, my full name, my address, and so on. Of course I said I dont have any credit facilities with RHB. And they give me a Bank Negara number ask me to call to that number. Then, we hang up.
I end up didnt call that number but instead googled RHB call centre and called RHB to verify again. And, as expected I dont owe RHB anything and RHB confirmed that there were a scam going on using their name. And said that even if it is true that I owe RHB some payment, it is between me and the bank, NOTHING to do with Bank Negara. Banks will never ask u to get in touch with Bank Negara yourself.

Went to police station this afternoon. The officer was not surprise when he heard Ambank, just shake his head and proceed lodging a report for me.

Got a phone call few months ago, and was asked to answer some simple question.

Forgot the question, I just answered "Yes" and a few weeks later, I won smartphones, and other branded products...

Yes they're in my hands now and they are real. Lucky me I guess...

damn... i just realize about this tread. i got a phone call from this number = 0162627544 and the name is Cynthia. when i search this number, there is already a reply about this number back in 2011. the weird thing is she even know all my info including my CC. she said i have to pay rm499 using that CC. luckily, my credit card is almost to limit and not enuff to pay that rm499. My question is if i pay my CC, let say at the end of this month, can they deduct rm499 next month?

If you did not reveal any sensitive information like CVC code, or agree to pay the RM499, they are not able to charge you. In future, do not entertain such calls.

This 2 days keep getting call from a so call insurance company say provide free things to me.

One call is free pa coverage for Hlb credit card holder (I do have Hlb card). Calling me to provide some detail and nominee detail. I knew it scam case from start so I just give stupid weird name and my tunang birthday (11-19-1970), he stuns for awhile and repeat 11-19-1970? , lol. I say yes then surprisingly he still keep proceed next. Haha. Firstly say free and mid way say will change me rm399 per years. I straight away say don't want and he say tak boleh (they are Malay obviously). Said they have record say I provide detail as agree to purchase, I reply them I got record also for police report. Straight away hang up. I'm sure they will ask for my card detail if the conversation continue.


Second version, yesterday a Malay gal call say want to send dunno what package as I purchase a car insurance with takaful,(yes I've just renew my car insurance with etiqa takaful). They ask for my detail to verify so that they can send me the parcel. Same things I provide weird number and name. Then she ask my visa to verification. I just tell if want send just send, no need verification. You should have all my detail if you are from takaful.

I always got a call from many kind of company offering insurance, vacation, backup card etc, but I refuse nicely all of them, but yesterday call is diffrent. The caller claim that from insurance company which appointed by my credit card company. When I ask which credit card, she said she don't know and only proceed my insurance which already covered for a year automatically and compulsary taken to all Visa user. All I need to do is pay the insurance once for a lifetime. I smell something fishy so I ask if there is insurance I should get the policy and so on, then she said already sent to my address. I told her didn't get it several time, then it start to fire me up when she said I kept tell her didn't get. She ask me to pay and ask for my credit card number otherwise my credit card will be suspended. I hang up after that. Question is they change strategy from offering to compulsary kind of thing to somehow threathened people. WTF

I received the same call just now regarding takaful and ask for my maybank credit card number and expiry date luckily im too busy i ask them them call me back later.

She knew my Full Name, IC and Address.

same thing happened to me this moring lol. Found this topic and immedaitely regretted as i had mistakenly given my credit card numbr (not the security code) and the expiration date. So I called Maybank and they said they will cancel that Credit Card and issue a new one to me.

Now i keep getting calls from the same people. I picked up once of her calls before contacting Maybank and she said she got the wrong Credit Card number from me and wanted me to reconfirm so i though here's my 2nd chance at redemption. I told her i'll call her back and then immediately contacted Maybank to cancel that credit card.

Hopefully I am not charged the rm399 or worse, sued. Is there a chance of this happening?
I am banking on the fact that they got my CC number wrong and didnt proceed to charge me.

Dissapointed at myself for being so gullible.

The number is 014-728 7147 by the way. She is calling me as I am typing this.

Just found this thread. I also got a phone call from +6 016 920 4041 on 25/6 at 5.30pm asking for my Maybank credit card details. Seems they have a 'reward' to send me but require my CC details first for verification. I told her if she is from Maybank, she should have my details already plus I don't feel comfortable giving my CC details over the phone. She tried to convince me but I just said never mind, don't send me anything, no need for verification. She just said ok and hung up.

I have found out there is an app for android called "Spam alert!". it will let you know whether it is a potential scammer when called based on its database. user can help to update the phone number with description to help the community. Hope this help.

Got a call from a supposedly agent for MAA Takaful. keep on asking me address to send the Personal Accident policy
the policy: $150,000 coverage, free towtruck, $80 per day for hospitalisation
only need to pay $399 once only for lifetime coverage

offer me $750 voucher for hotel stay or medical checkup

said i dont have CC,so can i bank-in.so the person sms me the bank a/c no with a company name

after that,i called MAA Takaful to verify.they confirm that company is their agent but wouldnt confirm if that product is legitimate

Claimed from HLB and will help me to reduce my cc balance but need to know my statement (bring along during meeting) and also my cc & ic?

Called HLB and the cust service said no such thing as Balance Conversion but the closest they have is Balance Transfer, which i assume not the same..

My plan is to meet this guy but not disclosing anything as yet.. maybe i'll just email him later lah kan..
