i would suggest using the stock ROM for a week, play around with it first. flashing directly to a new ROM kinda take the fun away too fast

yeah, yeah, yeah..... like me. i used the stock eclair ROM for a few months before kena fast tracked to SEA Froyo ROM, CM7 Beta6 & now MIUI 1.6.24 liao....

but it's after using stock ROM so long, you appreciate the work done with CM7 or MIUI

oh yes.... that is why i enjoyed CM7 & MIUI that much.... so the morale of the story is suffer before you enjoy. because through the suffering, you learn to appreciate the enjoyment.

p/s: redid my Quadrant Score. It went up to 2044....

so simple to flash our Defy®. 7-10 min finish and greeted with brand new Defy®

JUST DONT FORGET TO WIPE.WIPE.AND WIPE before flashing new ROM..

I used the stock eclair ROM for 1 hour before fast tracked to HK Froyo ROM which lasted a week, and am now on the leaked 2.3.4 with motoBLUR (which is still somewhat a stock ROM)

pure speed.. less eye candy. choose CM7..
speed + eyecandy+ lots of cutomization + like iPhone.. choose MIUI.us

1.I backup to Gmail account,so whenever I flash any new roms I can directly get my contacts back,or even I change phone
2.I using sms backup+,can backup sms/call log to Gmail account & restore them some of the sms apps provide backup service to sdcard too if not mistaken,like go sms pro?Somebody to clarify?
3.Titanium Backup (No doubt)

Search for sms backup n2 manager in market, it back up sms to sd card

but as for MIUI, titanium kinda works weird when wanna restore back setting and apps..
(got report that u wil get lots of FC after restoring with titanium )
ur mileage might vary..

as for contact should be no problem..
they auto sync with Gmail.
no need to backup.

SMS backup can use SMS backup from market
same as call log backup.

both got quite good review.
