if on stock motoblur, go menu,setting, data manager,
can off the data there, just left that background data ON for email,calendar,contacts sync.

the safest way to fix this is,
go menu,setting, wireless, mobile networks, Access Point, and see those Celcom 3G bla2,
just open and rename those celcom3g to celcom3gXXXX and menu,save

repeat on the other 2 or 3

so u will not accidentally connected to 3G.
(save ur moneh)

My Defy s'pore set has been sent for warranty(earpiece defect) for nearly 1 month,and this is what I get:

i've wipe data when install MIUI from CM7, but i've use CM7 Beta 2 all the way to RC0 without wipe, so i guess it's ok not to wipe, but if shit happens, dont come looking for me

oh yes.... that is why i enjoyed CM7 & MIUI that much.... so the morale of the story is suffer before you enjoy. because through the suffering, you learn to appreciate the enjoyment.

so simple to flash our Defy®. 7-10 min finish and greeted with brand new Defy®

JUST DONT FORGET TO WIPE.WIPE.AND WIPE before flashing new ROM..

MIUI 1.7.1 is out! installed and using it....4MP widescreen camera is working! and FM radio as well!

just use the backup function of the MIUI ROM. also, i have Titanium Backup as well. so double power backup. anyway, i just installed over 1.6.24 without wipe
