My friend regularly buys things from singapore and bring it back to malaysia. Sometime the kastams just ignores him or lets him thru, so depend your luck. But there is a high chance you will be taxed. About 26%.

Are you looking for cd player + stereo amp + bookshelf speaker?

Dali is from Denmark. PSB is from USA i think but made in China?

NAD is a quite an established name in hifi. Good choice.

You should audition both speaker and choose the one you like better.

Since you have such a high budget i would not recommend you take soundsticks. tongue.gif Straight hifi speaker and amp. It will bring u further than multimedia speaker.

hm.. but i don't wanna plug it into pc..

so a speaker itself won't do.. and if possible don wan too big / bulky also.. if wan optimized sound quality have to put where in the room? i hope the bigger heavier ones can hide under table or something at the corner then the speakers can put around the room.. does the placement affect the sound surround alot? something like mayb can put data file and play.. usb port / cd etc
*
Miss, just curious is bass important? As for myself, i prefer to lower the sub and use low vol when i doze off to music.

Im not sure what is the best solution for you, you can consult hifi shop. But i have a rough idea what you can try but you should ask hifi shop if there is better solution.

You dont want to use pc, do you have other source? CD player, Ipod, etc.

I got this idea from my friend's dad's office's reception area. My idea is you buy a cheap integrated amp which able to support 2 zone. eg Cambridge Audio Topaz AM10. Then you get those rear speaker ppl use home theater. eg. Wharfedale Diamond 10.dfs. These speaker are more non directional and give the surround feel of music. You can get 4, but if you worry about the sound, maybe get 2 first. I didnt suggest in wall speakers because im sure you cant and wont make a hole in ur wall/ceiling.. lol This amp is cheap i believe is just 1000+++ not sure but you can get a quote from forumer HTKAKI. You would still need a source, hopefully you got ipod. If you dont like those speaker, maybe you can look into satellite speakers like suggested by E1.

This setup will not have much bass because you dont want bookshelf, your bmb is more of karaoke speaker and is bigger than normal bookshelf. Side note, if you really get 4 speaker on a weak amp, not recommend you drive them to loudly, might spoilt ur amp.

Check out this link for another product called CD receivers, they are cd player with built in amp and can suport pendrive. http://www.marantz.eu/en/category/cd_receiver/ Please do your own research on what format they can play and expect to pay more for these tongue.gif

thx dlyz.. yea i got ipod..

but does the source make a big diff? ipod is just very normal source.. i mean quality shud b just so-so?

Source is important. But i feel for your setup, it should be ok because your not really going for very accurate setup. Lots of headfi kaki use ipods as source. Just make sure ur mp3 is of high quality or better yet... lossless

First you need a source, then amp, speaker, then u need cables to connect them

Source = PC, CD player, DVD player, DAC
Amp = Integrated Amp or PreAmp + PowerAmp
Cable = Speaker cable and rca cable.

10-15k is good budget... lol wish i had that. You need to go hifi shop test out what sound signature you like. Wat songs are your preferences?

Alternatives would be to get a proper hifi system. 3k is do-able.Unless you really want the docking feature.

My friend told me that his mezzo 2 is not bright speaker, but cambridge isvknown for being bright. Perhaps some mezzo owner can advise but they are mostly at home entertainment side.

thank u,dlyz......
i saw u had sold a mission speaker before.m30i or m31i, i think.
what can u say about the mission speaker?
thanks again for your time and attention. notworthy.gif

M31i is a warm speaker, my friend sya its warmer than his mezzo 2. The sound is similar to wharfedale diamond series. Because of this some might perceive it as less detailed especially those who use brighter sounding speaker. However its good for vocal song imho esp male vocal.

Htkaki sells them, he shud be able to elaborate more too.

htkaki boss, can u recommend me a mission floorstanding/bookshelf speaker that suit CA?for a small room(8 feet x 10 feet) notworthy.gif
my plan is the keep MS carnival for nearfield listening during studies while get another speaker for enjoy music. thumbup.gif
can fully utilize speaker A and B of the amp also. rclxms.gif
of course, the budget is max max rm2000 sweat.gif
thanks in advance.

You have a lot of better choice than mission for that budget. I also have 1 floorstand and 1 bookshelf for near and far listening. But sadly my new amp cant utilise 2 speaker and my marantz amp im planning to sell soon to fund for subwoofer. But i do swap from time to time when im bored lol

Ur budget? Usage is more to HT or music?

Recently i also explore world of subwoofers and i can say... its not easy to choose a subwoofer. And require lots of tuning to get it right.

Don't have a specific budget, but very low lo (sub 1k, hopefully can get used for 500 biggrin.gif, I'm a cheapo!!!)

HT or music I'd say 50/50...

Also, I'm just wondering... (Oh gosh, I hope my question won't start a war here...) Does speaker cable really makes a difference? I spent some $ on Belden, but I couldn't hear a difference compared to my lamp cord tongue.gif. (BTW, it made me feel better because the cable is really more solid)
*
Cables does make a difference. Diff ppl will have their own opinion. Mine is that they do but not much. Also i can only tell with better speakers.

For sub maybe if you ask at Subwoofer recommendation thread, can get better response, but 1k is quite limited.

Take a look at HTKAKI signature above smile.gif

Im not sure if you can get complete set with 4k tho, unless you get all mission bookshelf speakers. 4k maybe cant get floorstanders. Cos you still need to buy AVR to drive the speaker.

Hmm, with a healthy budget like tat you can get a lot of choices. My idea is that, you start from speaker and build the system backwards instead of forward like ur intending to, the result will be less harsh and more to your taste. Because i feel you have to find a speaker you like, then find the electronics that synergy with you speaker and taste.

Are you looking for floorstand or bookshelf speaker? Also i have heard the 9.1 before and i feel, if you upgrade ur speaker first, it would have tremendous improvement as 9.1 are entry level speaker.

Speaker brands you mite consider looking at would be Dynaudio DM or Excite Series (im bias here), Sonus Faber Toy Series, Dali, ATC, etc. Hmm but be warned that some of these speaker need beefy amps to drive smile.gif Do more reading on review and go out for demo.

Hope my limited knowledge can help you a bit ha ha..
