QUOTE(babemys @ Jul 24 2007, 05:14 PM) Thank for your opinion .... Added on July 26, 2007, 2:11 pmif NAD C542 compare with Pioneer DV989 for play CD? Cos Pioneer DV989 got DVD and SACD, if i buy Pioneer, i can save $$ and no need to buy another DVD player liao ... Its a viable option but don't expect the Pioneer to beat NAD in CD playback. It depends on whether you want the flexibility or the quality, if you use the other formats as much as CD then take a serious consideration for the Pioneer, I remember Denon has similar universal players also.

RM5k is sufficient for a budget but quality Hi Fi set up, including the cables.I am not familiar with every model out there even for the budget range, but popular brands like Marantz,Denon,Yamaha,NAD,Cambridge Audio etc. have entry level CD players and amplifiers that are good value for money. As usual you have to test them yourself to find out what suits you best in terms of taste, synergy and value.I recommend you spend the most on your source rather than speakers and get some decent set of interconnect and speaker cables that suit the system and music.

There is too many brand and model in the market that diffiuclt for me to choose. Can I ve some guide to where I can start up. Like which shop to try out or a set that I can start up. Than slowly I can mix and match around. Should I just walk into any HIFI shop and ask them to recomend to me? I worry some are not bother and sell me a lousy set. When they sense I m noob.

A professional Hi-Fi shop is supposed to accommodate to its customers' needs, if they give you lousy service then they don't deserve your business.Go to any Hi-Fi shop and tell them your listening preferences and budget then ask for recommendations. It will be better if you bring along your favorite CDs that are suitable for system testing. There are quite a few Hi-Fi shops in Amcorp mall, it should be a good place to start

QUOTE(kwekeugene @ Aug 1 2007, 09:46 PM) Hey all, I'm planning to setup a budget hifi for music listening with the following.... Epos ELS3NAD 315CEE1. The Epos specification says that it the speakers are "4 Ohms nominal", would there be any problems pairing with the NAD amp? 2. What are the sound signatures of the amp and speaker? I have read much on the Epos, but there is very limited information on the NAD amp. 3. With a budget of 2.5k, do you think this is the best bang for the buck setup? thanks for reading/replying! PS: What's the market price for the NAD 315CEE currently? Help please ?

Than I will start to look at Amcorp Mall. I m not worry about the service. But take advantage to sell you a cheap set as a n expensive one since I m noob. You know not all the shop are pro and honest. This post has been edited by ozak: Aug 3 2007, 07:51 PM

I paired my speakers with Exposure XX amplifier (also old one) via Naim Audio speaker cables. I considered buying NAD at that time but not confident with it. I am not so sure about new NAD amps.

after my audiolab 8000a retired early this year, now I'm NAD 320Bee user, kind of smooth sound overall, bass not too good. I think 315Bee should be same type of sound.

How much is the ELS3 ? Someone said the Wharfdale diamond 9 costs abt RM900. How does this compare with the ELS3 ? Anyone ?

Diamond is entry level speaker. You cant compare it with Epos ELS. They are in different league.

Thanks for the response!
The Epos ELS3 sells for RM1399 (recommended retail price). During KLAV, it was only RM969. It's the entry level speaker for the Epos line.
