RM5k is sufficient for a budget but quality Hi Fi set up, including the cables.I am not familiar with every model out there even for the budget range, but popular brands like Marantz,Denon,Yamaha,NAD,Cambridge Audio etc. have entry level CD players and amplifiers that are good value for money.As usual you have to test them yourself to find out what suits you best in terms of taste,synergy and value.I recommend you spend the most on your source rather than speakers and get some decent set of interconnect and speaker cables that suit the system and music.

A professional Hi-Fi shop is supposed to accommodate to its customers' needs, if they give you lousy service then they don't deserve your business.Go to any Hi-Fi shop and tell them your listening preferences and budget then ask for recommendations.It will be better if you bring along your favorite CDs that are suitable for system testing.There are quite a few Hi-Fi shops in Amcorp mall, it should be a good place to start
