I'm thinking NAD C320BEE.I'll test it when I got the time.Is Marantz CD5001 sufficient or I should expand my budget on the CD player too?
EDIT:I'm getting NAD C352 second hand now.I'll probably have to upgrade the player as well...

Are studio monitors suitable for [desktop] music listening purpose? Are they enjoyable like hi-fi speakers?

Is it Cresta 30? However, it isn't the best from Kef. iQ is the more popular series.

NAD C542 can't play SACDs, it decodes HDCD though.I haven't heard the others so I can't help you in that.

i know, NAD C542 cant play SACD, but last time i heard the demo, NAD C542 compare with Marantz 7001, the sound is not big different...
that why i maybe will choose NAD, cos is cheaper then i can buy power cod at the same time.

From what I've heard the Marantz sound signature is bright and forward while the NAD is more laid back.Also consider whether SACD playback is important to you or not.If not so, you can save money with NAD and get HDCD playback as bonus

imho, it doesnt make a diff if you are spinning CD in SACD player as the player is more meant for SACD discs itself.

now i use Denon 3805 AV Amp and B&W CDM2, if i use AV amp match with CD player and SACD player,
dunno can match or not?

or i have to buy another Stereo amp to listen Song?

It's ok if you aint fussy. Multi-channel music like DVD-A needs AV receiver to fully optimise its potential.

Don't know the difference between KI Signature and without

Nolah SACD player seldom performs better than a dedicated CD player for redbook CD playback if they are within the same price range.More cost is spent on improving the redbook playback quality rather than splitting between that and SACD.

Usually the NAD C542 is compared with Cambridge Audio Azur 640C for performance and price range.Of course the sound signature is different, to me its thinner but punchier than the NAD.

Of course AV amp can be used for stereo listening but a dedicated stereo amp should do a better job at that, if you're not fussy about that and are planning to use it with video and multi channel audio then stick with AV amp.But get a good one

I don't know exactly which model was it but it was around the same price range,I did not like the Denon player so much.Azur 640C was okay but the thin sound was kind of weird for me so I picked the NAD C542, the HDCD bonus did not hurt either

Hey all,

I'm planning to setup a budget hifi for music listening with the following....

Epos ELS3
NAD 315CEE



1. The Epos specification says that it the speakers are "4 Ohms nominal", would there be any problems pairing with the NAD amp?

2. What are the sound signatures of the amp and speaker? I have read much on the Epos, but there is very limited information on the NAD amp.

3. With a budget of 2.5k, do you think this is the best bang for the buck setup?
