well....ive "tried" the CD5400 before...i mean...almost every cd shop in kl is using this model for customers to try audio cds. i also know how simple and cheap this model is to built.
5001 i havent seen it anywhere yet. so yet to audition. still, as a budget player, i dun think i have much choice. or should i save up more $$ and get a NAD?

That's kind of strange, usually places that stocks Marantz should have CD5001. Well one way to decide is to match the amp and speakers within the same range as the source. The source should at least be at the same range as the amp/speakers or if possible be a little higher than them.

I am former cd5400 user. Don't buy lowest model marantz cd player. Price/ quality the best is cambridge audio 640c v1 or v2 for new player. if not you get some used marantz player like cd63se also better.

QUOTE(kkthen @ Aug 24 2007, 09:52 AM) Marantz player like cd63se also better. I still hold Marantz CD63 series (SE, or KI Sig) with very high regard and better sounding than its successors, even better when modded with change of opamps and diodes. Reclocking (can be expensive) will push it into a higher realm throwing its nearest competitors out the window. There's also the Audiolab 8000S..conservatively rated at 60w/channel but I've experienced its power more like 75 to 80W music power and poise. No doubt these are rather dated and can be found as used sets, but they're excellent choice for most purpose and intent. Just don't match these with cheap speakers.

But just be careful with used player. The Audiolab is good too. Later you could add an 8000P. But to use them with Aego M? hmmm......

Any sifu here can recommend me some good 5.1 home theater system? This system is primary for watching movie and console gaming(PS3/Xbox360), budget is about RM2k. I don't mind to get seperate items from different brands as long as it's good, but if those all-in-one set is a good choice I also can consider.
