i am a newbie in terms of Hifi Stereo but i do enjoy listen to quality sound, is it expensive to invest in? coz i search the web saw this Mark Levinson N502 media console cost us$30,000.00. plus i am going to have a own av room in my new house so i want ask for some reconmendations and pointers when choosing a hifi system

What is your budget? Above USD30k? Confuse as what you want to do.

10k to 15k can get good Hi-Fi system, depends how far you want to go.

Basic components as you mean? cd player, cable, amplifier, speaker?

I don't know which pointer you want?

First you need a source, then amp, speaker, then u need cables to connect them

Source = PC, CD player, DVD player, DAC
Amp = Integrated Amp or PreAmp + PowerAmp
Cable = Speaker cable and rca cable.

10-15k is good budget... lol wish i had that. You need to go hifi shop test out what sound signature you like. Wat songs are your preferences?

I am looking to get a home stereo for my av room but i do not have much expertise in this area.
My focus is on sound quality and the overall look of the system. It must have floor standing speakers with a wood casing.
Prefer the speakers to have a more antique look.

Willing to spend up to RM30k.
Some recommendations are appreciated and thank you in advance.

I recommend you to go to amcorp mall hifi shop. They got a lot hifi shop. Especially Audiomatic setup skill is very good.

IMO, Good sound quality is subject... Just like looking for quality gals... There are gals with sexy looking, mature looking, kawaii loooking, sweet looking etc...

I found most people do not appreciate really high quality HiFi and just interested on heavy bass... Just like BIG Boobs..

I myself sometime also troubled... It seems might have to get at least 2 sets for different music... headache.. Well, I guess maybe that's the reason why there are guys out there with more than one gf...

Haha, I love your way in describing choice of sound. So you are having two gf now since you own two sets of speaker sets right?

Went and auditioned B&W Zeppelin. Really like it for its design, sound is decent too but price tag at almost RM3k, is it really worth it? Do I have other options?

Thought of getting one for my iPod but it seems that Zeppelin can double as Hi-Fi /movie system in my small condo living room too (no need big big speakers).

What do you guys think? Any alternatives?

Alternatives would be to get a proper hifi system. 3k is do-able.Unless you really want the docking feature.

just bought a LED tv...
now wondering how to choose a home theater system for movies and tv series.
i heard those branded(philip,samsung,sony...) home theater system is so damn many problem.
so,i now decide to buy all of it seperately...
my budget is around 2k.
any recommendation....?

at tat budget, u can onli go wif generic brand as u had mentioned ... unless u can push it 2 around rm5k then u can look @ harman kardon / jbl combination.

hi guys, i looking got HT setup now, budgeted RM3k-4k (lower is better)
i planned for pioneer 820 amp... and planned to pair with MS carnival series 5.1...

as check around seem A&L offering PSB speaker with cheaper price, wondering how good is this speaker compare to MS carnival? anyway, is there any other 5.1 speakers below RM2200?
