I'm currently in search for home stereo system for my upcoming dedicated room. I'm totally new in the HiFi game and need some recommendation and guide. Kinda confuse between floorstander and bookshelf @.@

My requirement of the speakers are open to many types of music genre from vocals, pop, metals, rock, electronics, epic and etc. Need something with fast response, dynamic, warm, good separation with clarity, sweet mids, extended highs without harsh and piercing. I guess some of those feature can be tweek by dacs or amps.

I was just surfing the net and came by a few brand and models.
1. Harbeth Super HL-5
2. Focal Electra 1008 Be
3. Neat Acoustics

May i have your opinions of them? As i have shallow knowledge for speakers i would certainly open for more recommendation of other brands or series.

No doubt Electra 1008 BE is a good pair of speakers but since they aren't able to provide me on the bass response so it's not ideal for me.

How bout PMC's ? I heard they produce british sound signatures which is natural, clear and smooth and non british bass. Which means good bass respond. Eyeing on the PMC OB1i and PB1i but the price were kinda steep.

Wanna compare the PMC with Neat Acoustic Elite SX which is much cheaper but haven't heard them myself

hi all sifu here, i plan to have Marantz CD5004. i am using harman kardon AVR260 +JBL venue series speaker. Any idea whether it is match? hehe, i plan to test it next week but just would like to ask some opinion first before i go. thanks......

Thanks for the reply. but i have AVR and speaker already and only plan to buy a  CD player.
no enough budget to buy new Amp and speaker

from your experience, you feel playing music via USB will be better than CD?

Im using Marantz AVR SR6006 connected via ANALOGUE RCA interconnect to my Marantz CD5004. I also tried connecting via digital and I am very sure:

1. CD audio sounds better via analogue
2. Same song even if I were to rip to 320kbps and play direct via USB from my AVR still cannot beat the sound from CD..assume we play ori CD and not pasar malam mp3 decompressed to rm5 type CD.

I only uses my USB connection and iPod connected to my AVR for vocal less music otherwise it sounds very flat playing from digital USB source compared to warmer and more detail from cd of the same song.

This is my entry level view..I'm sure higher end system can get even more clarity and hear further difference between USB (assume mp3 or wma) and CD Audio via analogue.

Just got my Mission MX-1 speakers (for laptop) .

Looking for an AMP that's suitable for that speakers. Currently using my old Topping TP30 DAC/AMP 10watts for 8ohms .

Will it be sufficient enough ? If not , what would an ideal solution ?

Budget around 1K - 1.5K for amp

I just didn't feel like spending so much on subwoofer, I don't need a very heavy bass effect.

But for the sake of argument, what kind of subwoofer would you suggest then?

The current setup is for the sitting room and yes, I find the bass lacking. Now I need something for the man cave. I have already booked the Krell S-550i integrated amp and the Krell S-350a CD player from Norman Audio. All I need now is a pair of loudspeakers and Ivan from Norman Audio says to keep away from ATC, ProArc & Dynaudio as these are a bit "slow". I intend to get the new loudspeakers below 15 grand. Any recommendations?

Hello my fellow audiophile friends, what good bookshelf speakers do you recommend for price range around rm1000 which matches a tube amp of 14 watt per channel? And a bit of technical, how does the speaker resistance matter to the tube amp?
