QUOTE(GodLuvSxS @ May 8 2009, 04:00 PM) yeah.. since i would like to test out the full potential of compass. right now i'm using compass to connect with lappie. since i'm moving oversea soon, i'm thinking of getting portable CD player that has an optical output. do you think it's a good idea? portability is my priority, but i wonder the sound would be much different than the stationary cd player? |

QUOTE(Dybre @ May 8 2009, 06:45 PM) yeah.. since i would like to test out the full potential of compass. right now i'm using compass to connect with lappie. Personally I dun think it's worth to get the 500 - 600 CDP just for the digital output, most of the cost is spend on the DAC part instead of digital output, which I think the effect is more or less, perhaps just lil better than using USB, Kingwa also mentioned the effect of using USB and those 500-700 CDP's digital output is roughly the same!since i'm moving oversea soon, i'm thinking of getting portable CD player that has an optical output. do you think it's a good idea? portability is my priority, but i wonder the sound would be much different than the stationary cd player? Maybe you can check out this http://www2.erji.net/read.php?tid=637831, it's a brand new CD transport from little dot ... quite small in size and using philips latest high-end cd module ... but it's on the expensive side ... so far still no review for this, but I can assure you that good CD transport aint cheap, a decent one sets you at least RM800 - RM1200. Kingwa's CD7 is certainly quite the best of bunch, costs you a whooping USD900 ... ouch! Portable CD player's sound would be quite different than stationary cd player, even last time I'm using an ok USB to coaxial converter compare to a cheap USB to coaxial converter, the sound is already an difference, that's the first time I believe with the effect of transport, the OK one sound more musical yet having decent detail while the cheap one just too bright! LOL My advice would be either you spend RM800 - RM1200 on a decent CD transport or continue stick with USB, just skip the 500 - 700 level CD player, which you can see from their name CD player = plays CD = most cost on getting it plays CD nice CD transport = signal transport = all cost on getting it transfer the CD signal nice This post has been edited by GodLuvSxS: May 9 2009, 12:17 AM |

Hello, everyone.
I'm moving in a few months to a bigger place and would like to upgrade my current speaker system. I will be grateful for any recommendations. A model and brand is sufficient. Here are my needs: 1. 5.1 speaker 2. Optical input 3. All the DTS processing which works the best with Playstation 3. 4. Wireless surround speakers. 5. Must work with Playstation 3. Here are my wants (optional): 1. 7.1 speaker 2. HDMI 1.3 input and output (no processing needed for video). 3. Lossless audio streams compatibility. Sorry if I used the wrong terms because I'm not too well-versed in audio equipment. Acceptable Sound quality is sufficient (no need for super coated with platinum cables and such). Budget: 1500-2000 Ringgit. (I'm in Europe so maybe 300 to 400 Euros). My current one is a Creative GD580 which is very much sufficient for me. Only costs me 100 euros 4-5 years ago and still works like a charm now. Wanting to find something similar but Creative seems to have stopped producing the upgrades for these series. Main reason for change is due to the ugly wires going to the surround speakers. Thanks. PMs are also welcomed. |

QUOTE(GodLuvSxS @ May 8 2009, 11:00 PM) CD player = plays CD = most cost on getting it plays CD nice Isn't there any cd players that do both nicely?CD transport = signal transport = all cost on getting it transfer the CD signal nice A cd transport needs an external DAC to work rite? Which makes it even more expensive. Btw, I'm looking for a decent cd player below RM500. This post has been edited by hirari: Jun 19 2009, 06:01 PM |

Guys, what you guys think about the Pioneer EVA hi-fi series? It ranges about RM999 for low end model (without a subwoofer and 2 rear speakers) and high end is less than RM1.5k (with complete surround speakers and subwoofer)?

QUOTE(jerren @ Jul 8 2009, 11:58 AM) need a suggestion for an amp, From the amplifier you have listed down, if you are going deep into stereo hifi then go for a stereo amplifier not those AV receivermusic route: APE/FLAC -> Foobar2000 -> AudioTrak Prodigy 7.1 LT -> TianYun Zero DAC -> AMP -> wharfedale diamond 9.1 music preferance: mostly focus on vocal, jazz.. other genre too. Actually if you like vocal and jazz, you should give yourself a chance to try out some china vaccum tube amplifier for a silky smooth and clear presentation But the way it is always depends on your preference of sounding which u might hate the tubby taste then you can always try the NAD and marantz for me NAD normally will more dynamic and detail than marantz, but marantz win in relax and musical Both are good but just which you prefer to match with your speaker~~ |
