It's recommended to match the front with the center speaker using the same manufacturer & series. I think you can get a Wharfedale surround and center (WH2) for less than RM1k. You need sub woofer for movies especially you are using bookshelf speaker like Wharfedale 9.1. Good entry level sub are Wharfedale SW150 (around RM1300). The other option is to get a floorstander instead of bookshelf. I'm using Mission M33i with MH3 surround & center. Total cost RM2050. Wharfedale Crystal CR40 with WH2 surround + center is around RM1680. Then get a sub at a later stage.

Yeah, I prefer Mission compare to Wharfedale. You can mix the 9.1 with the WH2. No problem with that. Since you room is small, you can opt for bookshelf but without sub you will lose some bass. As for the amp, Pioneer is ok. Don't buy HTIB. Waste money only.

You will need a sub eventually. Getting a floorstander can help to increase the bass but it will not be the same as subwoofer. Since your room is small then get the book shelf and if you have the $$$ get the subwoofer.

I'm not sure the price for CR40 alone but I think it's close to 9.1. WH2 is around RM8xx. My personal opinion is speaker play a bigger role than amp provided the amp able to drive it. Therefore I would recommend you to invest more on speaker. Also speaker tend to last longer than amp as the technology in amp will change faster than speaker.

I have not try 9.1 but base on the # of awards it win, I think it should be better than CR40. You can consider Mission M33i as it's only around RM1180

M30i is around RM600. Not sure on M31i or M3as.

I'm using M33i now. Good enough. No need to go for M34i or M35i. Some says M33i is better than M34i because the additional driver make the sound more muddy. Try it out yourself.

M33i is around RM1200. I saw CMY has a demo unit for that price. M30i is around RM600 but during AV fair can get around RM400.

M30i is the cheapest book shelf for Mission. The M33i floor stander is only around RM1200. M31i and M32i should be between this 2 price range. M30i maybe too small for you. You may want to consider bigger book shelf like the M31i or M32i. M30i is ok for surround. As for the general price guide, I had compiled one before. Here :

Yes, I'm using it as HT. Actually the positioning concept is the same. The tweeter height must be around ear level. So you must fix your siting position first before you place your speaker. For floor stander, it's pretty std height and if you sit on a couch, it will be just nice. For desktop PC can, it will be difficult for floor stander. Bookshelf maybe a better choice. Yes, you are right, M31i get better review than M32i. The difference is on the cabinet volume. Maybe M31i is just nice whereby M32i is too big while m30i is too small. Just my wild guess. But for M33i and M34i, M33i get better review because the additional driver on the M34i cause the sound to be muddy.

Base on your budget, you have around RM2200 for the amp. Not much choice in Malaysia. Only Yamaha is the most value for money as the price is controlled. Other brands are much more expensive here in Malaysia. Eg : Onkyo 606 sells for RM2800 in Malaysia while in Singapore it only cost you RM1700. Your best choice will be Yamaha 663 which is around RM1800. I'm not sure on the connection from the PC. I guess you can either use optical or coaxial. Don't think PC got HDMI connection.

Most of the AV amp will have pre out for subwoofer. I'm not sure about stereo amp. I check out some stereo amp like the PM4001, doesn't seems to have any pre out for sub. Yamaha 663 has per out for sub. If you are in KL, can drop by Yamaha sales in Kelana Jaya.

I saw M31i in KL AV show selling for RM399. Of course that is during sales price. Onkyo 506 doesn't decode the new Hidef codec (DTS MA & Dolby Thru HD). I guess you only use it for stereo then it's ok. I heard some one in east malaysia can get the 606 for RM2100. That one is a good buy. Between the 663 and 506, 663 is the better buy. What Whaferdale model he offer you? I guess it't the WH210. Better get the SW150.

Your room size is big. Bookshelf may not be adequate for you. Budget too little for dedicated HT. You best choice will be HTiB with wireless surround since you don't want to run wire across.

Or get the Mission M33i with MH3 center & surround for RM2200 with some spare cash for cable.
