If you're on an Acer then I don't think flashing BIOS would help. If you really want to overclock then get a clone PC instead of Acer, Dell, etc.

Tried to OC my E8400 on my G31-Es2l using value rams ddr2800.

However, there is some problem during the process.

I tried to make it 400fsb x 9 = 3.6 in bios. Save it and reboot.
Mobo give a few beeps + reboot and end up reboot like normal (without OC).

I didnt touch the voltage settings. It was auto by default. Didnt try Oc with easy tuner yet. Feels that ocing in Bios would be more stable and accurate.

I did off the Energy saving options in Bios to be sure.

u can get a normal mobo with that budget, therefore, ur chances of overclocking to high freq is quite low biggrin.gif

If I use a stock cooler OC to 3.49Ghz (266 x 10.5) when I ran Prime95, my temperature can reach 90+ celcius!

I bought a Coolermaster Hyper TX2 cooler, rat the test again and the temperature only reaches 62 celcius. rclxms.gif

But the idle temp for both stock and TX2 is quite the same. 42 celcius. sad.gif

idle temp is almost same for most coolers.. because it is affected by your in-casing ambient temperature.. so better ventilation inside = better temp.. smile.gif
