fart in the car???

what does it mean???  sad.gif
*
The items in Beta package were sidesteps, trunk tray, footwell light and sports pedal only.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fart means releasing a good amount of dirty air from stomach via a$$hole. In a car, its a no no. I always keep mine until the next stop. biggrin.gif

Nothing to do with alignment I think.

The grinding noise only can be heard when radio is off and when you accellerate, not loud but if you pay attention it can be heard.

Apart from this everything else is perfectly fine.
*
Is there any vibration comes with the grinding noise? And does the noise reflects the road condition you're traveling on?

If the grinding noise/ harshness come and go, its your road & tyres. If its consistent no matter on any pavement surface, you might have some problem.

The noise is not from the glove box.

It is only audible when accelerate, and off when decelerate.  It seems that I am not alone here and I guess it is related to the electric motor.

Also, I just checked the tyre pressure.  It is 315KPA at the front and 310 KPA at the rear, this caused the harsh ride for the past 2 weeks.

I have decreased the tyre pressure to 230KPA front and 220KPA rear as recommended by Honda.  The ride now is so much softer and quiet, but expect significant drop in FC as well as life span of the bridgestone turanza.
*
Big tips everytime taking home new car/s: Deflate the tyres according to manufacturer recommendation. tongue.gif All new cars were super inflated to prevent tyre dead spot when ship or store.

Are u confirm its the sound of electric motor? What are your current mileage? Please refer back to Honda. I hope its an isolated case or we're all doom.

So far only Mardzi, Orbclyne and me have this "problem", well, it might not be a problem, hopefully.

You guys can try, turn off the radio, air cond speed at the lowest, then you accelerate and see if you hear any grinding sound or not.  I only notice this after my first service last week, hope its normal.  I am not sure if its from the motor, but it sound like grinding or something spinning.

My ride now very comfortable, quiet and soft after reduce the pressure from 315kpa to 230kpa front and 220kpa rear, I suggest you guys to do the same if you don't mind sacrifice a little bit of FC and tyre wear.  Running too high tyre pressure may cause your dashboard, door trims' clips looses which may result possible rattles in the near future.
*
I've tested. Even overreved the engine to look for any weird noise. I like CVT but the over rev part is not really desirable.

Seems like everything going smooth.

About the tyre, u're running 315kpa before didnt you notice the front suspension quite hard and wood'y?

1110-400 = 710 for other item i.e: foot light, side step garnish and sport pedal..
i think ur rite la..should look for cheaper one (after market). so anyone know where to get?
*
Lets count. 4 items. RM1100. Let say they are each evenly priced at rm275 each:

Footwell light: Not worth it. U can buy any led (Less than rm50), tap illumination and put there.
Trunk tray: Not really worth it. Outside can get around RM150-200 if have, with similar quality.
Sports pedal: Could be worth it. Ori Momo pedals also cost similar.
Sidestep: Worth it. Got molded plastics and chrome plating with Hybrid wording. The rear one seems too small however. If got outside also not very nice & normally just fabricated from sheet metal without plastic part.

The non-worth package surely modulo kit at 4.5k without front grill or spoiler.

bad news..... like that existing hybrid car resell value lower.  sad.gif
*
I think its the other way round. Extended tax exemption will enable more units to be sold, better support and parts availability, better exposure of the models to the public (more people will test their friends or their aunt or their grandfather's Insight and found that the Insight is reliable and really save fuel), results in higher demand for 2nd hand unit.

If very limited units sold (only ours few thousand units), service & parts limited, lots of people dont know and dont have the chance to test its frugality, Insight will become niche, less demand, lower resale value.

The best if later Honda assemble the car here, parts will become even cheaper, even if Insight as popular as Myvi, ours will become really precious as its a CBU unit. See Jazz CBU 2003-2004 now still fetch above rm50k albeit very old car.

I think this way of evaluation of price for each item is not very accurate and fair becos not ever item priced the same. As it is package. Actually according to my experience in buying individual accessory to my NHC last time I would insight beta package price is not bad already, becos all are original stuff

Added on April 19, 2011, 10:10 am

Ic. that's the good thing to hear abt.
*
I purposely mislead the pricing to justify my sidestep purchase. Haha. tongue.gif

My insight for next year, tax exemption will still here. However, when Proton, Perodua or Naza (local players) market their own hybrid, they will re-impose the tax.

Honda will have to increase the price to let say, 130k. But to keep competing in hybrid market, by then they will include features like trunk light (&$(%#!!), auto door lock (^#(&$$!!), pedal shifters, reverse camera, better sound system maybe navi unit, more choices of colours, auto hatch release, real 'keyless' entry and push start button. They might even push the engine to 1.5 IMA with higher capacity motor and battery with extended full electric range. Not to forget, motorized AC.

the low beam headlights seem to be still quite low, even though @ highest auto-adjust setting lever.

anyone know how to manually adjust the headlamps to be higher? (in other cars, i know you have to bring a screwdriver and manually adjust the screw directly behind the lamp housing - don't see a screw option for the INS... )
*
Using Philip screw driver, there's a slot on top side of the headlamp (for right lamp near windshield washer cap). Slot in your screw driver and turn your screwdriver anticlockwise.

The screw for the height adjustment (the one with metal gearing) should turn clockwise = tighten the aim screw = elevate the aim of low beam.

Try to adjust the beam with your leveling switch (inside the car) set to 1 or 0. This is to make sure you have enough freeplay for the motorized mechanism to lower the beam when the car is fully loaded = rear heavy = low beam aim higher and cause glare to other motorist.

Ruler of thumb; right beam should be slightly lower than left beam. Every new car have such setting.

Car cover can get form ACE hardware in IKEA, the one i got ngam ngam can cover my blackie, somemore strechable. It's for SUV wan i think can't remember the name. No choice had to buy stupid cats go and step and sleep on my precious blackie.Btw, when the car is about to fully stop like under 10km/h with econ mode on, do you guys experience a jerky like move stop move stop kind of feeling?
*
They called it 'the lurch'.

Its the moment when the CVT goes 'neutral' when the car going to stop. It releases the regen braking, hence the car suddenly felt 'free' at a very low speed/ almost stop. Its a quirk initially but now i have gotten use to it and actually very helpful during jam, u have extra momentum to creep to the car infront while auto-stopping.

The lurch more pronouns when u switch econ on and if youre stopping from a very high speed.

Mine is behaving that way also...
got four nozzles holes in total... only the far right one spray lower...

not sure it's flaw or a design though....
*
Yep. mine and the test drive unit at my place like that also. I dont mind as the wipers wipe to the right and seems everything can be clean easily.

Make sense if they do it on purpose. Just like right beam lower than left to reduce glare from oncoming motorist.

These are the details that i like about japanese car/ product. Everything was design with thought. Even the washer tank have level strip, and rounded at the end to prevent the strip from folding or bend when inserting it back into the tank. Theres a lot of other small details that u will only realize when u give a real thought on it. When even these small details were properly thought of, im pretty confident that the car has been properly engineered. Hopefully.

Somehow they didnt think that we need trunk light and auto door lock. hmm.gif

dear WHITE insight owners (those already taken delivery), do you regret getting white? Im asking to determine if I should change color from Silver. I know white is a beuatiful color on the Insight, just the dirty black marks worries me. Just to see those already taken delivery of their white cars if anyone regret this color.

Can PM me if you do not wish to post in the open. Thanks in advance

I regret for getting white...

Always wanna look at the car. Too nice to be true. Even my wife starting to notice that my love is unjustly divided tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

My observation so far on a merely 2k km Insight.

Long journey/highway @ average 120km/h = 20-22km/l
Short journey (less than 10km. Lot of stop and jam) = 15-16km/l
The best is medium journey @ 80-90km/h = 24-25km/l

Anybody from KL already wired their trunk light? Where & cost?
