plus they dont want to kill Honda City sales..Actually the profit margin of HM for Honda Insight is consider quite high (even for Langkawi prices) just look at US prices, I'm pretty sure it cost more to ship to US as compared to shipping to Malaysia..

Or maybe it is because of the cost of the AP...

the only consolation is that, Prius (low end spec that are sold in Malaysia) and CT200h have insane markup prices

Insight here in UK are not much cheaper than Prius and most of the people opt for Prius here since they are here for quite a while compare to Insight which is new.

I can see more than 5 Prius in a day but only saw 1 or 2 Insight a month here.

And the hybrid cars here are quite expensive so we should be thankful that our govt waived the import tax smile.gif

QUOTE(iphone @ May 17 2011, 03:05 PM)
Well not surprising at all. Same goes to ipad..iphone..the usual I heard..we heard new one coming! The world is always progressing and every second newer better product are appearing. So the best time is to buy when you NEED it. The worst is buying bcoz you WANT it, for this you will never satisfy wanting newer spec product. Price depend on demand vs supply, I guess when the 1.5 Hybrid finally appear..it could be selling at RM130-150K, demand going to be good since fuel are getting costlier every few months and our beloved Govt will not always give duty free CBU vehicles. Oh one more thing for those who are not aware ..RM72,000 total duties waived for our CBU Insight.  whistling.gif  brows.gif

Agree...I read the hybrid battery has a DC-DC converter for the 12V system and it turns on and off as needed. Better make sure any electrical modification are done by professionals.

Probably refer to "no new batches of Insight arrives at Malaysia after the Tsunami"

Yea, all SA can't guarantee when the new batches of Insight will arrive or will it even be here before the probable expiry of tax exemption end of this year..

BTW, anyone took windshield insurance? My SA tells me our front windshield is around RM4k to replace. Addt'l windshield insurance will add +RM700 or so yearly.

If I do the math, this means you'll pay addtl insurance for roughly 5.5 years or so, before breaking even with a windshield replacement cost (in other words, if you unlucky enough to have yr windshield replaced within 5.5 years, you save on cost of windshield replacement, else you start "losing" after the 5th year of no claims smile.gif)

i took the windscreen coverage, i covered rm4.5k, premium rm675.

I find it is worth it. becos insurance is for incident. there is no one can predict if it will happen or not. same to ur life insurance, u insured for unforeseen circumstances, i dun think u expect u can claim it before u lose for no claim rite?.

u cannot take it like investment. i insured rm1k for my NHC windscreen too with the premium of rm150.

with the price of insight windscreen, if u dun insure, u are taking the risk actually. and the risk is high or not is one thing, but the cost in the case of the risk happened is high. i would rather pay for it to have a piece of mind. tongue.gif
pay 15% to guarantee for 85%, it is worth it. tongue.gif

seriously i wonder how many bros here did not take up the windscreen coverage. sweat.gif
