Thanks for your comment... will the water tank water being unfiltered then impact the performance of the ground pump in the long term?  I clean the tank and empty it once a year....to be honest before i put in the ground pump, I just do normal backwash using the pressure from the main which was ok for this purpose....also the water filter guys come yearly and clean the membrane as well.

So if the water pressure is ok and the membrane is chemically cleaned yearly, is it better to then have clean water in the water tank and install the filter before the tank so the pump performance is better and lasts longer?
*
yup. then install the filter before the tank. even better smile.gif protect your tank and the pump

Hi, i read the tech spec that cm3-4 comes with self priming function whereby cm3-5 does not. Is it necessary to have the function?

Thanks.
*
cm3-5pm1 and cm3-4pm1 both are self priming pump

May I know why use the bypass source from the main water supply and not from the tank? Coz I find that once the main water supply travel to 2nd floor, the pressure drop lower than if it's bypass direct source from tank.
*
if your main water pressure is weak. then do water tank bypass.

some people use solar heaters, solar above tank level, if do tank bypass, water cant go upto solar

many people are worried, water pumps could burst their pipes at home. Here is an interesting video i came across, it took 78bar of pressure to burst buteline pipe.
Regular household pumps are 3 - 4bar+ only, it is quite impossible for household pumps like teral or grundfos to burst pipes. It will only leak if the joints are not connected properly.

Still confused whether you need to get a water pump or not for your new house? Here is some info

I have many customers told me,

1) Plumber say test water pressure first, not necessary need to get pump.
As explained by GOOGLE, water is flowing down from the tank and every 10m drop = 1 bar pressure. 1 storey is approximately 3m, so if u your house is 3 storey high, your ground floor will only get 1bar or pressure while highest floor is 0.3bar, all landed houses the same unless your are using direct water supply and not from tank, that it depends on incoming pressure of the area. SO, no need to test, confirm is weak.

2) Plumber advise to increase water tank height or make the pipe bigger to increase pressure.
As tested, every storey drop (3m) u will only get additional 0.3bar of pressure, how high can u increase the tank? max u can increase 1 to 2ft, impossible to increase the height by additional 1 or 2 storey (6m). Any modifications would not result in significant pressure increase. So, dont waste money

if based on what you mentioned where the pressure should not cause the pipe to burst, is it okay to leave the pump on 24/7?
*
my previous house with GI pipe got minor leak that we could not find it. so we turn it on when we shower only

for my new house staying about 6 years already, we leave it on 24/7, only off when we going for vacation.

Bought a Teral water pump from @zheilwane based on his advice. Bought a model which is equivalent to Grundfos CM3-5PM and is cheaper than the Grundfos.

Based on my observations after after weeks of using it, it is definitely silent (as silent as Grundfos), the pressure is very good and the water boost is more 'instant' compared to my previous Grundfos CM3-4PM.

My old Grundfos had a 0.5 sec delay before the pressure kicks in when I turn on the tap. So far very happy with the purchase and the plumber did a very good job installing it and doing a pump bypass.

Thank you @zheilwane for the excellent service and price!

thanks bro smile.gif Teral is really originate from Japan though made in taiwan, japanese motor are famous to be silent and also durable smile.gif

diagnosis:
Upon check at the pump found the PC15 no output voltage.Further tested the capacitor , capacitance is low value at 6uF out of 10uF cause the pump failed to start.Besides of this, found the cable entry cracked, request to replaced for safety purpose

PM 1 15 1x230V 50/60Hz bulk GAS IT - RM482
Cable Strip (2m) 3Cx1.5mm2 3pin & 5mm - RM19.50
Kit, Capacitor 10µF 400v - RM74
Service & Labour - RM150

Total RM725.50

If I do not proceed with the repair, I still need to pay RM50 for their 'checking for repair'.

i think it's a rip off personally.
*
PM1 can get compatible brand like teral RM 180+- only
Cable no nd change
Capacitor also can get compatible may b RM 50+-

If you are a DIY person, then buy the parts and self change, save labour fee.

After replacing they need to connect the pipe to test and monitor, quite time consuming also

does anybody knows where to repair grundfros water pump? when i using my grundfros water pump some black water came out from the water tap but when i switch off the pump no black water came out from the water tap. I suspect something is wrong with the pump....
*
not pump issue, get a plumber to check, i think is dirt in ur pipe

water will pass through the pump even u didnt turn it on, so if pump leaking black stuff, it should leak out even u didnt turn on the pump umless u have a main water bypass. then the only way to identify is to cut the pipe and check at the pump.

so far no issue with water pump bursting water heaters. if worry then get CM3-4pm1 or scala2 as advised by ianti.

for something more economical can also consider teral ab25x254tpc (similar spec as Cm3-4pm1)

Great to hear that.

Can you give me your shop address? Want to know what to buy because soon I have to replace the pressure tank. Instead of spending money on pressure tank better to convert right?

Guys,

I was thinking to put my water tank(single storey house) from roof to the ground.

Question:-

1. Is Grundfos Scala 2 can leave outside(open area)?
2. Can it withstand with our weather climate?
3. What is the maximum hp?
4. Is the hp enough to boost water from ground to all bathrooms(2 bathrooms). Can't find it from the datasheet.

Please advise. Thanks.
*
1. yes can
2. yes
3. 0.67hp
3. yes can

How about uni-e 10-2 ? Is the pressure of 2.5bar good enough ?
*
you have how many bathrooms? usually house hold unie 5-4 or 5-5 only

10-2 got high flow buy low pressure
