zheilwane I need some advice on water pump model. The water pressure from my double storey roof tank is quite low. All my instant water heaters come with pumps and the pumps still stop often due to low water pressure. Which water pump model would you recommend that is suitable for instant water heaters with pump?

Appreciate if you could PM me the model, price and if you do installation as well. Thanks.

PMed smile.gif

FOr normal landed houses, it is quite impossible for water to be too weak until the instant heater pump could not start. As all houses are using tank's water, hence all houses would have +- the same pressure (Gravity pressure). Few possibilities

1) Old house with clogged pipes
2) U install a rain shower system for your instant heater
3) Filter at the heater is clogged

Hi ,which model best suit for condo with 2 bathroom , at 10th floor

Installing at condo , does it mean I need a water tank ?
*
best to have a tank but most condo do not have a tank,

Grundfos Scala 2 would b good. However, if your unit is at the 10th floor, pressure should b quite strong unless 10th is the highest floor

Hi all the experts here, I am looking at this 2 option for my house. 3 stories medium size terrace house with 2 bathroom (1st floor and 2nd floor) and 1 powder room (ground floor).

1. Joven JHP 2-30
2. Grundfos Scala 2

Can share with me some precious advise? Thank you.
*
Price Joven win,
Reliability, pressure and quality GRUNDFOS

DOnt think u can find any good reviews for Joven pump, they are OEM and JOVEN is actually specialist for heaters not pump but Grundfos is the specialist for water pump

better to install scala2 before or after a water filters?
*
pump has to be installed before water filter.

1) THen u will have strong pressure to backwash the filter
2) If after filter, the filter will reduce incoming pressure further, hence less water for the pump to boost

I thought it could be air as well.

But it happens in all outlets, from my outside porch garden faucet right to the bathrooms above.

My washing machine returns low water pressure error due to this.

Not sure what’s the reason.

the pump controller spoil d, get some1 to check. If under warranty, quickly call the customer service

Hi guys, wondering whats the price range for a 1.0 HP Grundfos water pump?
*
THat would be CM5-4PM1, market rate is about RM 2100 - 2300, u can check mudah, lelong and many other sites for price reference. Ofcoz it is still possible to get slightly lower than the online prices but for budgeting, u can use them as benchmark

Now I'm installing one 10" and one 8" rain shower system, and have another bathroom downstairs with instant heater.
Is it necessary to get a pump?
*
if ur main your main water supply is 2.5bar and above u can go ahead without a pump

Zheilwane, does this applicable to PM model as well, i found out my pump also having the issue where the pump delayed start.. i turn on the tap but water flow without pressure, it has to take a while (30 sec) before the pump kicks in. Sometime i will have to turn on other tap to "initiate" it
*
1) this only happen for PT (with a tank), PM should not have this issue
2) If the main water bypass is ON and ur incoming pressure is quite strong, the pump wont kick in until pressure drop to certain level (hence u nd to turn on two taps) if that is the case, turn off the main water bypass valve
3) May b PM is faulty

i see.. if thats the case i am seeing 3) as the prossibility.. do you have any idea how much is going to cost?

1) PM model
2) main water pressure should be stable as its getting connected from water storage tank.
Thank you bro.
*
turn off your water meter and test the showers, if that resolves the issue then turn off main water bypass

My water pump stopped working for no reason.

Electricity from below available , no DB trip.
Pump is on the roof.

Does anyone knows of any technician able to assist to check?
Grundfos btw.
*
If you have photos, can snap and share here for us to c and advise. Photos of the pump, the piping and etc, further angle for us to see the installation.

also check at the controller got LED light or not.

Grundfos has 2 years warranty, if more than 2 years then can get my technician to fix, cheaper than grundfos

Hi all experts, I'm staying in New area elmina, recently just installed a grundfos CM3-4 pump, had a bad experienced with the plumber, they bought the wrong fitting and pump outlet burst to room, and leave water mark on the parcel Ceiling and the room is all wet!
Just wonder is this kind installation whether is fit or safe or not.

After that they replace the fitting.
Thanks guys
*
should install a ball valves right after pump outlet, check whether they did a main water bypass or tank bypass for you

guys.. any comment on Welflo waterpump.. was told the quality same as grundfos, but at a more economical price. I'm just using it for a DS house with 3 bathrooms.
*
never heard of this brand, google search for more info, it is CThardware own in house brand. So it is OEM in china

"CT Hardware’s affordable yet reliable mantra, the Welflo brand booster pumps is part of our in-house brand" copied from website
https://www.cthardware.com/blog/welflo-booster-pumps/

To compare grundfos with Weflo is like saying Proton is as good as Mercedes but cheaper price smile.gif

been surveying for water pump for my double story terrace house. 3 bathrooms with normal shower head. tank and pump to be located on ground floor, at the back of the house.

was recommended these 3 pumps
1. Ebara AM 8
2. Grundfos CM3-5PM1
3. Gemini EDP240PC

May i know what is the best way to compare spec? Is it by max head at same flow rate or max pressure or rated kW?

I was told that Gemini is with composite impeller, is this in anyway better than SS type?

Price difference between Ebara and Grundfos option is RM400 (Grundfos more exp). Any recommendations on which to choose?

My old house used Ebara before long time ago, remember it got to be quite noisy then one day it died so I sent for repair, the pump came back super quiet. Not sure it's just normal wear and tear that made it get more noisy over the years or not.

Been told that Gemini is made in Italy but i kinda doubt it. Any one know where were these pumps made in? Not that it matter much but just so I know whether shop can be trusted or not. Haha

grundfos is internationally well known for low noise, durability and powerful. For 3 normal shower heads u can actually get CM3-4pm1, however if u love strong pressure can get CM3-5pm1 as well since price difference is only RM 30.

Stainless steel impeller is definitely better than composite in terms of durability and noise level.

compare EBARA AM8 VS Grundfos CM3-5pm1

If u r looking for pressure, compare the head
39.7m (ebara) vS 46m (grundfos)

so is about 3.9 bar pressure vs 4.5 bar

energy consumption Ebara is 600watt vs Grundfos 500watt. Grundfost is more energy saving.

However, many customers like to compare HP (horse Power) which i think is not accurate, u need to compare Flow & Head not HP.
Since Grundfos is more energy Saving, kW is lower, hence HP is also lower as well but the HEAD (PRESSURE) is higher = stronger.

HP = kW x 1.34. So Ebara will b 0.8hp while grundfos 0.67hp, however in actual spec grundfos is stronger. Hence it is not accurate to judge a pump by HP or KW

How much is the EBARA pump? i tried to google online cant find pricing, grundfos is RM 1330 by my shop

Hi guys,
I am planning to install water heater at master bedroom toilet, as it is the only toilet in use everyday

My house is a 2 1/2 storey terrace, almost 20 years old. Water pressure is very low at master bedroom toilet (top floor), so planning to install booster pump together

My concern is:
- if i install water pump, Will there be any risk of pipe leak? 70% of houses in my area already bypass to outdoor piping to water tank as they said their original piping has clogged/leaked. Didnt asked exact reason why, but my house still using original piping until now, and my house do not have any booster pump yet
- can i use water heater with rain showe head? Will the pressure be good enough? Was rcommended by the promoter in HomePro, booster pump brand Kawa, 0.75hp, RM700++ exclude installation
*
there is a risk but u cant tell until u install the pump, wan something reliable and affordable, TERAL (japanese brand) most cheaper pumps are actually OEM in China but they put GERMANY or Japan or Italy which is very misleading.

If u google Teral Japan, u can c their HQ and factory, really japanese brand. HQ & factories listed as per website. Truly japanese technology
https://www.teral.net/e/corporate/overview/

I tried google Kawa, all source from malaysia only hence i assume it is malaysia brand import from china and rebranding. From their catalog it says JAPAN technology, misleading. Cant even find their website to check on more info.

Hi guys, seeking advise.

I got a 1000litre stainless steel water tank at ground floor and 500litre PE water tank on top of the roof.
Suffering from very low water pressure due to my house a bit higher (hill side) and 3rd floor toilet rain shower totally no pressure.

My plumber suggests installing installing Grundfos after the ground floor water tank.
Grundfos will be pumping water pressure to all the rain shower and also the roof PE water tank.
PE water tank will be used for normal toilet bowl and tap water.

Is this the best method?
*
yup, ur plumber suggestion is right. TO save cost, get the pump yourself as plumber usually mark up 20% profit for the pump, only pay for his labour fee. U may get his price for the pump and compare with my selling price to know how much u can save

Hi guys need some advice. How much the installation typically cost?

I got quoted from RM300 to RM550 hmm.gif

Anyone know where can I find a cover for the pump for outdoor installation?
*
depending on how u install the pump, budget got budget way to install (just connect in and out), professional got their method and additional fittings as well (bypass, non return valves, stainless steel union and stainless steel ball valves). Where u purchase the pump. u usually u hire their ppl to install or your contractor, then u can ask them in detail how they gonna install it also what is included.

sample photos as shared by winsontay & white lighter above is a RM 300 vs RM 550 job

could u snap some photos of the ground pump installation? to double check is not installation issue? wanna c the tank/filter/ pump and pipes, so snap from further + few angles

By right if it is installation issue, the technician should be able to advise as well. But best to have photos to share with forumers as well smile.gif

Durability wise, CM is more durable than scala2 but scala definitely can last for years as well, given 2 years warranty + 6 months extended for online registration, if keep on breaks down grundfos will b making huge losses as well.

Thanks. I will try and do later. I spoke to the shop and they said one batch of Scala 2 received in late 2017 is faulty.  Many many many returns. Grundfos technicians will come and replace the unit for me. I will try one more time.

The water tank is around 3m from the pump and the install is main -> water tank -> pump -> membrane filter -> house piping etc.

Only thing ive noticed is why did the plumber install the filter after the water tank. Sounds odd to me so Ive asked him to redo this as well...any input here from sifus would be appreciates.

But as per discussion above the water after going into the tank has much less pressure hence needs a ground pump. Triple checked this.
*
Filter install before tank, ensure water in the tank clean. However water pressure weak, u wont have pressure to clean the membrane. SO installing it after the pump is better.
