Anybody know how to DIY service the CM5-4PT diagphram pressure tank? Like how to pump air in and to what pressure?

Plan to DIY maintain my Grundfos pump.
*
1) Turn off incoming water and electricity.
2) Turn on a tap to release pressure and make sure pressure gauge drop to 0
3) Pump in 22 psi into the pressure tank
4) open back the incoming water supply
5) Turn back on the electricity

Didnt know that there's a pressure tank that need some maintenance. Thot that the pump is just pure pump only.  How often did you need to reset the pressure?
*
CM5-4PT --> PT = pressure tank

if CM5-4PM1 ---> PM1 = Pressure manager (no tank)

tank best to pump once a year or grundfos recommend 10 months

Thanks. Just need a bit more info, do you know the steps to fill up the tank? Can use like a mini air compressor or a bicycle tire pump?
*
bicycle pump and you need a gauge to check the psi in the tank after pumping

Good Morning Guys,
Anyone know alternative pump service people for Grundfos pump? Mine does not want to switch off and intermittently the water that comes out is hot. Called Grundfos and they only can come on Monday. (Service Charge RM180 and extra for parts changed)
Weekend without pump banyak susah.
Thanks
Suren

water comes out hot most probably pump overheat (running non-stop), cause could be leaking pipes or pressure manager faulty.

Do turn off electricity if you are not using the pump, if you notice the pump is running non-stop. If pump overheat and mech seal spoil = it is as good as buying a new pump, fixing cost like a new pump.

Climb up to the pump and check if the center part is leaking or not, if yes = mech seal spoil already = can buy new pump

Ok Bro thanks. As soon as i heard it continuously running i stopped it and hv switched it onĀ  to test occasionally to see if ok or not.
I hope Mech Seal not spoilt.(No leaks at ceiling where pump is located) fingers crossed. No choice hv to wait for Grundfos on Monday to see verdict.
If new pump required will contact you. Old pump asl bought from you.
Thanks

if over warranty, i would not recommend get grundfos to check, you will need to climb up yourself to c c first, or else you gonna waste the RM 180 service charge. they didnt do anything just climb up c also charge RM 180

grundfos CM3-4PM1 is sufficient already, recommended to install next to water tank not direct from main

Hi zheilwane, my house is a DS link with 3 bathrooms and one rain shower, which model of pump do you recommend for my house? My area has very bad water pressure so much so i have to use heaters with built in pump else the water pressure is a good as useless. I am looking to fix this pump to improve the water pressure for my entire house.

Scala 2 is a new model in malaysia, hence wont have much review on it. However, grundfos is popular for low noise, high pressure and durability for CH series which later then replaced with CM series (current model) while Scala2 is a completely new design.

With all the new added features, the scala2 price is quite close to CM series. Then people start to ask, why new model so cheap? Answer is MATERIAL used.

So which model to choose?
If u need all the new features like variable speed, outdoor installation, etc etc then scala2

If you wan something that is proven to be good, durable and also has been used many years in malaysia then CM series such as CM3-5PM1

Want to know more details, i can point out and compare when u r in my shop smile.gif

Thanks halcyon27 for your feedback. I missed the head...onviously you are absolutely spot-on with the observation.

get Grundfos scala 2 then, since it is variable speed and adjustable pressure

FYI, is not the pump too strong, if leak at the joint = wasnt installed properly with the right glue. If burst out from the pipe = the pipe is lousy or too thin

Hi zheilwane,
I have been using a CH2-50 Grundfos pump and looking for a replacement. Have been using it for almost 10 years. Can you please recommend an equivalent model or a more suitable model  for this based on the current models available from Grundfos. I have 4 bathrooms that use this pump (although mostly not at the same time) and my plummer commended that its a bit too strong. Please advise. Thank you.
*
Grundfos CM3-5PM1 this is the replacement for CH2-50PC

I think I saw you recommending cm3-4pm1 on an earlier posting. What are the key differences? . Can you also please pm me the price of both these models and let me know you take credit cards or not.  Thanks.
*
CM3-4PM1 is slightly weaker. If u r happy with CH2-50PC then get back CM3-5PM1, if u wan something a little weaker than CM3-4PM1, price difference RM 50 only, hence most customers get 3-5

Grundfos CM3-5PM1 vs scala2, which one best in term of reliability? thanks
*
i vote CM3-5PM1, this has been used in Malaysia for many years while scala2 is new. So, all customers reviews that grundfos is GOOD is actually referring to CH-PC model which is then upgraded to CM-PM (current model which is quite similar) but Scala2 is a totally new design

COmpared both, noise level wise CM3-5PM1 is lower compared to Scala2 but if u r staying in and old house and worry pressure too strong then get scala2 with variable speed and adjustable pressure

It is regarding CM3-5PM1,

I am staying in Condominium and the water pressure is just normal volume,  i like to bath with more heavy water pressure.

can i install CM3-5PM1 after my in house water meter?  will it cause leakage and burst toward new PVC piping in the unit?

is this pump having water pressure control? appreciate for the answer . thanks.
*
Get grundfos Scala 2 better for your case.

Regarding pipe burst, many forumers asked this question as well. Pipe burst has nothing to do with the pump but is due to the poor installation of the pipes. Why other houses or condo install CM3-5PM1 did not burst or leak while some YES. reason is the pipe not the pump. If old house and you have no confident with the pipe, scala 2 with variable speed is a better option.

My family experience with Grundfos pump at home:

I moved into a 3 storey house near 10 years ago, installed a Grundfos CH2-50 from my water tank outlet during renovation and been using it ever since. The water tank area and all the outlet pipes are in open air subject to sun and rain in my roof area, so the pipes all suffer some form of sun and rain. As the years go by, my dad and I have to cut and repair cracked pipes due to the high pressure and exposed pipes. We have so many rejoints now that we just replaced a full set of all the piping once early this year. Just to be clear, all our pipes are rated class 7.

Not to scare anyone away from using Grundfos pumps, but they are a powerful and highly durable workhorse. Just make sure you know where all your pipes run, cuz as your pipes age it may crack and some joints may also come loose due to vibration. Always pay attention to your pump making noise, if it makes noise too frequently even when no one has been using any water for some time, then u potentially have a pipe leak somewhere.
*
your previous pipe also class 7? or just changed to class 7? PVC class 7 is very good

my in law house using PVC class 6, while my house is ABS, so far no issue

However, both also under the roof, not exposed to sun.
