why do you need a pump to get water to the smaller tank in the roof?

wow, wanted to purchase scala 2 dee..anyone can review if scala 2 is worth going for or just use CM3-5pm1?

My experience is poor. 1 unit lasted one year plus and sent back for warranty. Next unit is dying...I have the normal CM one in my roof. Works ok.

Coz the main goes to a 1500L water tank which is quite a distance away to the main pipes going back up to the upstairs tank which then provides water to majority of the house except the kitchen one which is from the main (not my design - was built like that). So need the ground pump to pull the water from the water tank through the filter and up to the small tank in the roof. Else i have to redo all the piping which is a no no.

So now looking for a reliable ground water pump since Ive given up on the Scala 2.

well........you can just either :
1. bypass the 1500L water tank
2. install a checkvalve at the 1500L water tank outlet and connect the water tank inlet and the water tank outlet together.

both the option don't require a pump. can send water to tank above. but if you want water in tank for emergency needs you will need option 2 with intermittent change of water in the 1500L tank as the water will be stagnant there most of the time.

anyway..........do you have any sort of water filter prior to the tank? dirty water can damage the pump seals and impeller over time

Yup i have setup the piping with a bypass and it is being used at the moment given the pump is not working. Yes i could do 2 which means i remove the ground pump right but the water pressure isnt great and not sure if it will get from the 1500L tank to the main water tank 3 stories up.

No water filter prior to the ground pump but the water in the big tank isnt stagnant all the time as water flows through there to fill the small tank in the roof. Nonetheless I empty the tank every year for a clean.

Anyway the scala 2 has an issue with water leaking into the bearing i saw online and that sound im hearing is exactly what is coming from my pump.

Maybe option 2 will work but im not sure given water pressure is poor.

Weird.
If you are having low mains pressure you should report to the relevant water board. 3 stories is no big deal.

could u snap some photos of the ground pump installation? to double check is not installation issue? wanna c the tank/filter/ pump and pipes, so snap from further + few angles

By right if it is installation issue, the technician should be able to advise as well. But best to have photos to share with forumers as well

Durability wise, CM is more durable than scala2 but scala definitely can last for years as well, given 2 years warranty + 6 months extended for online registration, if keep on breaks down grundfos will b making huge losses as well.

Thanks. I will try and do later. I spoke to the shop and they said one batch of Scala 2 received in late 2017 is faulty. Many many many returns. Grundfos technicians will come and replace the unit for me. I will try one more time.

The water tank is around 3m from the pump and the install is main -> water tank -> pump -> membrane filter -> house piping etc.

Only thing ive noticed is why did the plumber install the filter after the water tank. Sounds odd to me so Ive asked him to redo this as well...any input here from sifus would be appreciates.

But as per discussion above the water after going into the tank has much less pressure hence needs a ground pump. Triple checked this.

Filter install before tank, ensure water in the tank clean. However water pressure weak, u wont have pressure to clean the membrane. SO installing it after the pump is better.

Thanks for your comment... will the water tank water being unfiltered then impact the performance of the ground pump in the long term? I clean the tank and empty it once a year....to be honest before i put in the ground pump, I just do normal backwash using the pressure from the main which was ok for this purpose....also the water filter guys come yearly and clean the membrane as well.

So if the water pressure is ok and the membrane is chemically cleaned yearly, is it better to then have clean water in the water tank and install the filter before the tank so the pump performance is better and lasts longer?

yup. then install the filter before the tank. even better protect your tank and the pump

cm3-4pm1 for normal hand shower
cm3-5pm1 for rain shower upto 3 bathrooms

price diff a bit only, so most ppl go for cm3-5pm1

Hi, i read the tech spec that cm3-4 comes with self priming function whereby cm3-5 does not. Is it necessary to have the function?

I have a Scala 2, bought it from zheilwane, serving me well, only gripe I have with it is that I feel that it's not strong enough to support rain shower

cm3-5pm1 and cm3-4pm1 both are self priming pump

my cm3-5pm1 bought from you last time finally died after approx 7 years of usage.
changed to a scala2 last weekend (not from you this time).

hope this last another 7 years.
