I find that 4.3.2 is quite stable. You only need to worry about your baseband if you are using a locked set. If you are using any iPhones that was bought in Malaysia, then you will have a factory unlocked set and you only need to worry about jailbreaking and not unlocking.

Redsn0w is a good tool as it has both Windows and Mac versions. It's simple and doesn't take too long to run.

Sometimes the repo server is down. So you just need to try it again I supposed.

My internet goes through a proxy and sometimes Bigboss repo is down. It is usually up and running again after a couple of hours.

If you need an unlock (you're the one with a 3Gs on 3.1.2 right?), use either pwnagetool or sn0wbreeze as these tool will preserve your baseband 5.11.07 which will allow you to unlock it using blacksn0w or Ultrasn0w.

If you do not need the unlock and you have a maxis or digi set (factory unlocked), then I recommend using greenp0ison for 4.2.1

In both instances (pwnagetool or greenp0ison), you will need to run TU and the TSS server to bypass Apple verification server.

Follow the guide in iClarified.com for the jailbreak procedure. Greenp0ison will guide you to putting your iPhone into DFU mode so you should be good with that.

Have you tried installing other lockscreen themes? I'm not into changign the lockscreen so my knowledge is pretty limited on that front.

I was re-reading your post and I thought I'd write a reply that can clear some of the confusions.

1, Most of the tutorials (iClarified.com or redmondpie) will guide you on how to jailbreak on the latest firmware version at the time. So right, now ... the latest firmware version that can be jailbroken is 4.3.2 (current with what Apple has just released).

2. Once Apple has released the latest firmware, the old jailbreak guides (4.3.1/4.2.1/4.0 etc etc) will be outdated and must be used cautiously. This is because, everytime you jailbreak, Apple will verify the firmware you just installed on the iPhone and if it's not the latest version, they will not allow you to proceed and your jailbreak will fail.

This is why, if you are trying to "update" to 4.2.1 (from 3.1.2), you will need to have the 4.2.1 SHSH blobs saved and TU running the TSS Server as the TSS Server will disguise itself as the Apple Signing Server and allow you to "update" to 4.2.1

I hope this will help some who are trying to "update" to a lower firmware than what is currently released by Apple.

Same thing with downgrade ... you need to have the TSS server running (and SHSH saved of course)

You're on the latest firmware right? Let me try some free lockscreen form Cydia and I'll report back to you to see if I'm having the same issue. Maybe it's something like what frozzbyte mentioned.

If the JB has failed, you need to try and JB it again. I suggest using 4.3.2 firmware via redsn0w

May I suggest that for the peeps who needs help with the Jailbreaking/Downgrading etc lists below these information so that other members can give an informed and proper advice

1. iPhone Model (iPhone 4/3Gs/3G etc)
2. Current Firmware version
3. Maxis/Digi/Celcom or Factory Unlocked Set
4. Locked Set (At&T etc)

Most of us are super willing to help but we require some information on your unit so that we can give you proper advice.

If your set is factory unlocked then follow the steps below

1. If you're upgrading to the latest firmware 4.3.2 use redsn0w
2. Follow the guide from iClarified.com http://www.iclarified.com/entries/index.ph...&scid=11&seid=2 Choose which iPhone you have and follow the corresponding guide

Have you tried pressing the sleep button and the home button for more than 10 seconds?

When you say memory is low, what does that mean?

When I was on 4.2.1, my free memory after each reboot will be about 350-360MB (SBSettings information), when I installed 4.3.2, I'm looking at 319-321MB after each reboot so ye, 4.3.2 does eat into your free memory but I suspect it is due to the extra features (Personal Hotspot, iTunes Home Sharing) that was installed into the new firmware.

Now your problem is clear. You're trying to use a firmware 4.3 that is not supported by redsn0w.

Download/upgrade your iPhone 4 to 4.3.2 and run redsn0w again

This is why we asked that for those asking for help to clearly state their make and model so that we can give a clear and concise answer. Otherwise we will be guessing about your device/firmware and ending up not helping you much.

I've noticed this as well. I didn't manage to download it via iTunes. Keep getting server error so I downloaded the IPSW directly from Apple. Follow the Guide in iClarified http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=14562 and in that page, there is a link to where you can download the IPSW directly.

Follow the guide and you should be good to go.
