Try and download iFaith. Apparently it can save the SHSH of the firmware you are currently on.

RC18

My understanding is that rc18 is for those with Verizon phones (or that the dev-team has added support for the Verizon phone). 0.96rc16 seems to work well though so I guess either 16 or 18 should be okay.

Owh. My friend said the new IOS 4.3.3 not stable yet. Is it true??
*
Not true. iOS 4.3.3 is very stable, haven't had any major issues and the battery life is much better than 4.3.1/4.3.2

Hi All,

I just updated by iphone4 to 4.3.3 and straight away jailbreak it. I didnot check whether got service anot but after I jailbreak it, it become no service anymore.

I use redsn0w and i got mine from digi.
baseband is 04.10.01 (this is correct?)
Model got a MY behind so mean malaysia right?

so i need help on this as is there any other way than using ultrasn0w?
*
Something went wrong with your jailbreak. A Digi iPhone should be factory unlocked so you should not have any problem with the network.

Restore your iPhone to factory settings. See if there is network. If there is, then jailbreak it using the latest redsn0w (0.96rc16 or 0.96rc18) I would not use the 0.98 betas as those are for the tethered version for iOS5 betas.

You can't use ultrasn0w with 04.10 baseband anyway.

WARNING: NO FRAKIING PIRACY DISCUSSION

Wow even after one week still got some frakkin idiot that post piracy stuff. I saw that the iPad 2 jb thread was full of piracy discussion before david came in and killed that thread dead for one week.

Fact: Almost ALL iPhone can be jailbroken. If you have any issues in the processes of jailbreaking the device, just do it again or post your problem here to get some help.

I usually installed the tweaks from Cydia just for the tweaks. I don't see any developer selling games other than the emulators in Cydia.

When you select the app in Cydia it will say for iOS4.2 + etc etc so if you're on 4.1 then obviously the app is not compatible.

Jailbreakme 3.0 ONLY supports iDevices from 4.3 upwards. If you're still on 4.1 or 4.2.1, then you have to update to the latest iOS firmware (4.3.3) which has some caveat (i.e., if your set is locked) then you still have to g through the custom firmware route (sn0wbreeze or pwnagetool) which will jailbreak the iPhone anyway so jailbreakme 3.0 for these devices is irrelevant.

Okay guys, I need your advise here.

My iPhone 4 is running 4.3.2 redsn0w. I would like to upgrade it to 4.3.3 jailbreakme.

I want to back up only my contacts, then restore to 4.3.3 and jb. Possible? How do I just back up on my contacts?
*
I don't think iTunes will backup your contact only, it will backup all your settings as well. The Apps will not be backed up by the way, the apps can be re-synced via iTunes (you need to sync the apps first though).

The first time you upgrade your iPhone, it will be empt (no contact etc), once you restored your backups, all your contacts will be restored together with all the netwrok settings, carrier settings, wifi passwords etc etc ... game saves or any app database (pocketmoney, Safewallet etc etc) but the apps are not restored. Once the apps is re-synced the associated app database will be properly assigned.

There's a tweak called Pkgbkup, it's a bit pricey and I've read that it sometimes does not work so you'd be spending 8 bucks on something that sometimes will work and sometimes won't.

I have aptbakup which is free. What it does is saved a list of the tweaks you have so you'll be able to download the tweaks after the restore/jb process.

Might want to try MobileNotifier (can't remember the repo for it) but supposedly it improves the notification system of the iOS.

I got the feeling that Apple has also patch i0n1c untethered exploit as well based on info I got from iClarified so I don't think that the untether will be out for 4.3.4 anytime soon.

Just DO NOT UPGRADE. There is nothing special in 4.3.4. Wait for iOS 5 this September because the features are worth upgrading for.

The only other "extra" features other than blocking the pdf exploit is the ability to delete unfinished download of apps from the appstore which is pathetic. I'd say wait until iOS5 is out before even thinking of upgrading.

to upgrade firmware would take an hour depending on internet speed , if many upgrades would be great , if minor it would be owh man what a waste of time
*
Yes that's true as well. Downloading the 4.3.3 firmware is going to set you back 666 MB ... fortunately if you're on fibre optic then it'll probably take less than 5 minutes. I downloaded 4.3.4 in under 2.5 minutes so not too bad. But if you're on ADSL, it will probably take a lot longer.

The funny thing is, Apple WOULD NOT have known about the pdf exploit if not for comex and the dev-team. If the iPhone was not jailbroken by these hackers, Apple would have claim ignorance just like Rupert Murdoch.

Jailbreakme exploited the pdf for jailbreaking purposes and they (comex and the gang) actually came up with the fix for the pdf exploit even before Apple. So basically for 10 days AFTER the 4.3.3 jailbreak, the safest iPhone was the one that were jailbroken. Those non-jailbroken iPhone was actually exposed for 10 days (and you guys were using Maybank2u and what not on those phones ....)

Enable Multi-gesture and you be able to exit the game by using your entire 5 finger pinch.

I guess that period of malware that you've mentioned is the ikee virus? First of all, it should state "Jailbroken with SSH installed but don't ever bother to change the root and mobile password" phones. It's like password protecting your computer but put a post-it note on the monitor with the password on it.

Jailbreaking is bad when those people don't know what they're getting into. That's where JB = piracy where new people acquiring an iPhone (but too cheapskate to buy apps) would ask where to get "free" apps and most people will say "You need to jailbreak the phone to install 'free' apps". It's a right response from Apple not to be responsible to any mishap happened because of Jailbreak, because it clearly stated it void the warranty but it is not illegal (only recently).

Jailbreaks at the same time breaks the limitation boundaries where the JB community gives the first copy/paste functions (then apple just sugar coated it to make it nice), ability to change wallpaper in the early days, bluetooth capabilities and lots more. Just look at iOS5 notification center, taken from the JB community but not only the concept but the developer as well. Most saddest of all, the ripoff of wifi sync where the community had it for a year and Apple just 'Copy & Paste' right to the icon. I could just imagine how the developer would feel (and he even submitted the app thru appstore but got rejected).

Jailbreaking scene is like a technological testbed for Apple to see what works and what doesn't. If that thing work then they will incorporated it in the next iOS update. It's just that they do it better (heck because it's their system to begin with). Suing those devteam would not benefit them at all, just look what happened to Sony. And like you said, they have debuggers, security analyst and innovation thinkers that they don't have to pay to help them make better iOS.
*
True true ... it takes 5 iteration of the iOS before something as useful as the Notification center and wifi-sync to appear in iOS. Let's not ecen go to the currrently crippled Bluetooth of the stock iOS. Celeste helps but Celeste is so buggy that I am still pissed that I spent 10 bucks on an apps that is pretty damn useless as well. Apple needs to do something about the Bluetooth, it's a joke that a "smartphone" can only use the BT for pairing with a headset ...

guys please confirm during restore the itune will ask you restore & update at the same time i can't choose just restore and hence i don't dare to press further, does this mean i can't restore to the factory setting without updating to ios 4.3.4?

i'm currently at 4.3.3 (3gs) don't want to upgrade.
*
There is no way to restore to 4.3.3 so even if you press restore (factory settings etc), it will automatically update to 4.3.4

but i thought we can force install the firmware from itunes by holding shift and select update then we can select the firmware file to install, no?
*
Yes, if you are trying to do it during the window that Apple is still signing that said firmware. Once Apple releases a new firmware, you will only have at most 2 days before Apple stops signing the old firmware and you will not be able to do the Shift+Restore method anymore after that.

FYI, Apple ONLY signs 4.3.4 at the moment so there is no way (normally that is) for you to restore your iDevices to 4.3.3 (unless you have saved your SHSH)
