Someone has mentioned that High Resolution SBSettings apparently sucks some battery as well. I'm not that sure. I have iRetina+ and my battery consumption is normal.

Hmm, I've never had that lag or slowness when using SBSettings. Are you using a special SBSettings theme? Which version of iPhone are you using?

It's a hit and miss thing. I've been upgrading my iPhone since 3.1 with the 3Gs and now since 4.2.1 for the iPhone 4. When I upgraded to 4.3.1, I lost all my layout! but when I upgraded from 4.3.1 to 4.3.3, the layout was maintained ... so go figure.
As for games records, I suspect (don't quote me on this) that it is one of those things that are saved in your iTunes Backup. There is a tweak in Cydia, Pkgbkp or something like that and I bought it but it HAS NEVER worked. Wasted 8 bucks on this POS app. Aptbackup is free but as mentioned by Bibinoob, it's only a list of your Cydia App (which is synced with iTunes Backup by the way) |

QUOTE(Starscream666 @ Jun 13 2011, 10:26 PM) noob question, if i jail break my phone and it was a success, and then ios5 comes out, i can just update it without any issues right? pending if i wana update la that is You can upgrade but your will definitely lose your Jailbreak. If there is no jailbreak for the iOS5, then you will be out of luck. Most people wait for the upgrade until a jailbreak is released. |

The savings from buying a locked phone is not worth it. Once you are on BB 6.15, you will be locked to that baseband forever with all the accompanying problems (GPS etc etc). Upgrading to iOS5 will also be an issue.
I suggest that you chuck the iPhone (sell it off) and use the proceeds to buy a factory unlocked iPhone (Maxis/Digi/Celcom) |

Since you're on 4.2.1, TinyUmbrella will not be able to save your SHSH
iFaith will be able to save the 4.2.1 SHSH (iFaith can save the SHSH of the current firmware you're on) No need to JB to save SHSH After saving SHSH, you will need to look for files with the extension .shsh To restore the old firmware, if you save the SHSH locally, you need 1. A line in the host file with 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com 2. Tiny Umbrella running the TSS server I believe a lot of 3Gs owner are partial to 4.2.1, some however have said that 4.3.3 works just fine. Backup your iPhone to iTunes and when you upgrade and restore, all those info will be restored back to your iPhone. Use TinyUmbrella to "Kick Device out of recovery" Hope that answers all your questions. |

QUOTE(YeeJack @ Jun 15 2011, 07:32 AM) erm i cant really understand diff btwn official unlock or software unlock. i lost my iphone 3gs bough from digi and plan stil goin on for another yr so i got no choise but to buy another one from digi shop` (not center) when i bough it it was on ios 4.2.1 (if not mistaken) and bb 6.15. i use Redsn0w to jb and Ultrasn0w to unlock` Yes you are doing the right thing by jailbreaking using redsn0w and unlocking using ultrasn0w. I'm not familiar with the serial definition, but if your iPhone 4 is on BB 6.15, then most definitely you are on a locked set (likely a US AT&T set)just to confirm with gok wai expert here, Example Serial : 12345ABCDEFG is tht mean that the iphone was made on yr 03 weeks 45? like mine is XX944XXXXXX means yr 09 weeks 44 made? |

@xaw5126,
I suspect that it's a lcoked set because he bought it not directly from Digi and the iPhone 4 is on the iPad baseband. You don't put an iPad BB (6.15) unless it's a locked set. |

SBSettings runs in the background so in some cases it will reduce the battery. My iPhone regularly last 1.5 days (around 40 hours) doing normal usage and SBSettings is the first thing I install once I jailbreak the iPhone. In fact, the ONLY reason I jailbreak is for SBSettings. I can live without all other tweaks, but I simply refuse to have an iPhone that does not have SBSettings.

QUOTE(frozzbyte @ Jun 16 2011, 05:13 AM) Hey guys I read somewhere that SBSettings runs in the background BUT I am one who has had NO PROBLEM whatsoever with SBSettings. It doesn't drain my battery at all. I still believe that those who complained about SBSettings have something else running (like 3G for instance) or one of the Winterboard themes and blames it on SBSettings.I've been reading that most of you said that using tweaks such as sbsettings can cause more battery drain. This is based on your own observation, according to the developer or just agak agak saja? I know that winterboard will cause lag (but small ones) to the system response if using complicated themes and add few sec to the boot up time. On my observation, sbsettings is not a program thats running 24/7 but only shows status of the toggle when invoke. It's just an extension to springboard and not a program by itself. Surely it will use some memory (very small amount of memory) but not to the extend of causing a battery drain right? Same as SSH last time when people said is the culprit of battery drain untill BigBoss (or was it the dev) said that SSH daemon only run when you initiates an SSH connection. If not it will go to sleep and will not use any CPU cycle or RAM or whatsoever. That's why I think that tweaks like sbsettings does not cause battery drain but running alot of application in the background, heavy mod to the system function (that always runs in the background) or heavily mod theme with live/video background MIGHT cause battery drain. But this is just my 2 cents and not the hard fact. I believe that SBSettings will need to run in the background because it will instantly come on when I swipe the top of my iPhone screen. But I suspect as you do that the amount of battery/RAM used is so minimal. My iPhone averages 40 hours on normal usage (with 3G switched in occasionally when I'm out of Wifi Range) and with calls/SMS and a whole amount of Wifi going on. I doubt I can get more of that without SBSettings (coz I will definitely forget to switch off my 3G if I don't have SBSettings) |

QUOTE(779364 @ Jun 16 2011, 08:00 PM) Guys,need some help on jailbreaking my friends Iphone 3g. Since its my first attempt on DIY jailbreak, I stumbled on a few problems. Just use Greenp0ison instead of sn0wbreeze.My friends iphone 3g was on official 4.2.1 firmware with baseband 05.15.04 and using Digi as the carrier. I am not sure if his phone is carrier unlocked since I dont have a spare sim card lying around to try. He bought it from an AP seller. Now comes the problem. I successfully jailbreak the phone using Snowbreeze v2.2.1 and rebooted to the main screen with cydia installed. Now the problem is the phone no longer detects the digi sim card even after applying Ultrasnow.The signal shows searching....searching....no signal. I was told ultrasnow it does not work on baseband 05.15.04. In Snowbreeze, the only option I enable under expert mode was " Activate Iphone (Hacktivate)". Could the culprit be this? The Digi sim card worked again once I revert back to unjailbroken state using itunes restore. Again thanks Iphone 3g Firmware 4.2.1 Baseband 05.15.04 |

Apps that you have purchased via the App store can be re-downloaded again or better still, if you backed up your iPhone will just be a sync away
Cydia tweaks will have to re-downloaded and if you have purchased it before should be fine to get it back again. There's an app called aptbackup from cydia that will save the list of tweaks you have but you will still need to reinstall them after a fresh jailbreak. |
