Wow, you're really late on the news. Unthetered for 4.3.3 has been out for the last 10 days or so (maybe more). It was out 2 days after 4.3.3 was released.

My suggestion is for you to upgrade to 4.3.3 first and then use redsn0w 0.96rc16 to jailbreak.

This will require you to have a Mac as Pwnagetool only runs on a Mac. Another option is using Jailbreakme.com

(See how much hassle you have to go through to jailbreak at 4.0)

AND before I forget, you will have to have your SHSH saved for 4.0, if you never jailbroken before, forget whatever I said .... You WILL NEED to upgrade to 4.3.3 if you want to jailbreak

Try downloading it direct from apple server. I think some of us has already posted the link in this thread, but just in case you can't find it, there should be a link in the iClarified jailbreak guide

I was on 4.2.1 which was rock solid and the upgraded to 4.3.1 to get the personal hotspot feature ... the battery life sucks on 4.3.1, now I am on 4.3.3 and everything is fine and dandy. Got my personal hotspot (very important to me since I use it with my iPad 2 Wifi)

That's why he asked you the version of iTunes you're using. Older version of iTunes cannot upgrade your iPhone to the latest version. So update your iTunes and try again.

I'm not sure what is the latest iOS that supports the 3G ... maybe that could be the case as well.

Added on May 17, 2011, 12:53 pmConfirmed that the iPhone 3G is not supported for iOS 4.3 and above. That's why it says that your 4.2.1 is the latest version for your device.

SHSH is a unique ID that your iPhone has that Apple used to identify when you're upgrading/downgrading your firmware.

And Yes, do save your SHSH. REad up on this thread (it's long, I know) but there have been several explanation on what the SHSH does and why saving them is important.

Doesn't really matter before or after. I usually save my SHSH locally everytime Apple releases their new firmware. So even before there is a jailbreak, I will save the SHSH.

Google TinyUmbrella and download the latest version and you should be fine.

Cydia should work now so you don't need to mess with the advance tab. But just in case you need to, untick the one that mentioned Cydia.

If you plan to restore back to 4.3.2, you can do it but it depends if you had saved your SHSH or not, if you did not and if Cydia also does not have your SHSH, then you won't be able to restore to the original 4.3.2 firmware, you will need to restore it to the latest firmware (4.3.3)

There is NO reason why you should not click on the "Make my life easier" option. Seriously, you never know when you might need to use the SHSH.

Celcom staff is talking bullsh1t. If you press Shift + Restore, the iPhone will be wiped clean. Unless the Celcom staff is going to take out the hard drive and do a forensic disk drive investigation, I say they are talking out of their a$$

Use this guide from iClarified. It's better if you upgrade your iPhone to 4.3.3 (just follow the guide with your respective device for 4.3.3) there is even a link on where you can directly download the stock firmware from Apple.

Jailbreak fails can be detected if there is no Cydia after jailbreaking or while it's doing a jailbreak, it does not proceed to your homescreen etc.

As far as I know, you can only enter the DFU mode using the button actions.

No, you do not need to save your SHSH to enable you to jailbreak. BUT, as mentioned by Vervain, it's good to have. If Apple releases a new firmware that cannot be jailbroken, then you MUST have the SHSH if you need to restore to 4.3.3, so there is no downside to save the SHSH.

TU will run all the firmware build to see if there is any saved, but most definitely you will have 4.3.3 saved as Apple is still signing this firmware. To be sure, just reconnect the iPhone and TU will identify that it has a 4.3.3 SHSH saved for this device.

As for restoring, I believe you will probably need to restore, I'm not sure but I usually like to do a fresh jailbreak so I usually like to restore my iPhone before doing it.

I've seen a lot of post with this "usage time" vs "standby time" ... honestly, I've never paid any attention to it. Should I? I mean, I'm getting 2.5 days after a full charge cycle and I always use SBsettings to remove any background apps (when I see the amount of RAM goes down, nothing to do with battery life etc)

What's the deal with this "Usage time vs Standby time" anyway?

Most iPhone apps are 0.99 USD which is 3 ringgit at current exchange rate. You cannot get nasi lemak at 3 ringgit nowadays so I see no reason why you cannot afford 3 ringgit apps when you can afford to pay RM2400 for a 32GB iPhone 4.

If you're the kind that likes deals, then download the app called appshopper and it will update you on apps in the appstore that has a price drop (from 1.99 to .99 or fro, .99 to FREE).

Whatsapp is now free at the moment so go get it of you like that sort of app.

Added on May 31, 2011, 5:56 pmThe carrier settings are the ones where once downloaded, you won;t be able to change the APN for the carrier etc (not that there is any reason why you need to change the APN from the carrier in the first place)

If you are on baseband 6.15, don't mess around with it, there is no need to download or update the carrier settings. But just in case, maybe someone with 6.15 baseband can better answer the question.
