QUOTE(confusedway @ Mar 8 2023, 12:52 PM) Just withdraw 99% of the balance in account, now waiting for it to be bank into account... since no more tax relief like not really worth keeping the money here since return are not fixed (until next year when dividend announcement made for previous year) better keep in FD promo... this year 2022 return yet to announce.. Thats the current feelings. A few years ago, sspn dividend is very attractive in comparision, added with the flexibilty of easy withdrawal without penalty. |

Its a good idea to withdraw tax relief for sspn. Initial tax relief is to give parents an incentive to save for their children education. The original concept was funds deposited may not be withdrawn unless for account closing. So over the years because of various reasons some of the tnc are changed. So it has morphed over to tax relief and attractive dividend scheme.

Sspn has been the favourites of conservative passive savers over the years with their tax relief, ganjaran benefits and above fd rates dividends. Last year dividend was a bit letdown, and with tax relief withdrawn, it needs excellent dividend to be declared so at least savers will still support it. IMO ganjaran campaign could also be withdrawn and therefore i may have to reallocate my funds elsewhere.

QUOTE(MUM @ Mar 27 2023, 01:24 AM) I will still hold my existing saving in sspn eventhough there is no more tax relief for my new fund. (Ganjaran now is not worth waiting for. At 1% lockin for around 3 months is only extra 0.33% per month for 3 months only. If the base dividend is 3% then pa wise if we deposit for full 12 months is 3.08% pa, base dividend 4% then 4.08% pa.) Pls ignore. Wrong calc. My badIt is part of my place to put emergency fund ....almost same like FD, but no lost of interest incase of premature withdrawal So the only attraction remaining is ease of withdrawal with no lost of interest due to premature withdrawal. But it then can easily be surpassed if deposit in fds with proper planning and the remuneration is much better. So my funds in Ambank most probably will run its course with their existing promo. Bye sspn, its been a good many years. This post has been edited by magika: Mar 27 2023, 01:04 PM |

Even if they have saving, they hv other better option like FD or ASB for saving rather than 3% dividend sspn. But the other 400k are desperate for tax relief. I am against the tax relief extension as will only benefit the T10s. |

QUOTE(ongth60 @ Mar 29 2023, 02:09 PM) It's easier for you to say when not paying high tax and the receiving end of receiving subsides, hence the previous GST would be fairer tax mechanism for all No discuss tax issues. I am perplexed that forumers in this supposedly financially savy thread is calling a return of GST which will see prices spiralling again. Tentatively ASM is reputedly giving dividend of 4.5%, if sspn also can give somewhere around 4% , i will be back. This post has been edited by magika: Mar 30 2023, 10:02 AM Gadget_Freak and ronnie liked this post

QUOTE(ineser @ Dec 19 2023, 04:18 PM) 8k tax relief is for your children SSPN. Its your own sspn account with child as beneficiary.May I check in event that you need to withdraw from your children SSPN, how do you do so? Tried in the app, it appears you cant do so. Or do you need to open your own SSPN, then transfer from your children SSPN to your account? |
