QUOTE(shootkk @ May 23 2011, 09:20 AM) Haha! Now only you know ar...? That's why wedding photography is not easy. You have to document the event, jostle with the people, fight for angle and direct the couple all at the same time and do it all with a smile on your face. And no chance to reshoot. this time i only help my uncle...he go hire official photog for around 1.5k...and i see him main tembak oni...lol...and so weird, his flash gun can tahan so damn long..i ady finish 8 GP batteries..his nikon gear tahan so long...hahahah...maybe he got bring 20-30 batteries..whole night i am using flash all the way...and i found it isnt that hard to use...compared to that time i am using manual power all the way due to defective flash unit...and i cant direct them to pose to my camera..i am doing sniping from a distance for the whole night...dont want to interfere with the official one...Now go tell your friends that and make them understand that taking pictures during their wedding is much harder than they thought. anyway, a good learning experience...it is really very hard...as u said, no reshoot...only can do post processing...and got some pic get front focus, back focus.. |

QUOTE(shootkk @ May 23 2011, 09:48 AM) ahpingko : What ISO and aperture are you using? I can usually make one set of battery last the morning session and another set to last the evening session. Shooting in high ISO helps you to conserve the flash batteries. iso 1600....and aperture around F4~F5.6...coz using 18-55 mm and 75-300 lens only...my primes basically useless....hahaha..i regret didnt borrow KM24-105 from my uncle before go shooting... |

QUOTE(shootkk @ May 23 2011, 10:14 AM) ahpingko : Ahhh... I see the problem now. You're using F42. I would think most of the time it will be firing at full power. I've faced that situation before. Once I switched to the F58 then I can usually have much better performance from my batteries. It's true what they say - get the best flash. You won't regret it. dont tink wanna upgrade it at the moment.. |

QUOTE(CrisisX @ May 24 2011, 02:34 PM) thanks for the suggestions guys damn expensive..but don buy and keep in house....or use it to show off...make sure u deeply utilize all the items...buy and keep = no points...i rather use it until it spoil or masuk kilang, rather than keep in box...hahahah..and learn to brush up skills...constant shooting only can brush and polish your skills...i think i'll stick with tamron 60mm f2 now, time to find 1 with a nice price... photography is an expensive hobby... my own technique to resist poison: -keep asking for review - ask til nobody entertain me -keep looking on review - look for bad sides of the lens.. -think what i can do after buy - demotivate ownself, say after get d, no target next...dont know what else to haul..so keep it as a target..at least got target to aim to.. after awhile, i boring, then stick to current gears..xD This post has been edited by ahpingko: May 24 2011, 04:32 PM |

And come here and join in the conversation more often, ask us anything and we'll try to help =] those who say sony sucks is those who dont know photography...they know gears only..with gearhead mindset, their skill wont go far... |

QUOTE(CyaNide27 @ May 25 2011, 04:36 PM) i'm also just silently reading from here and trying to learn coz i dun even have a dslr yet... hi there, i believe in all camera regardless of dslr or digicam, have something to adjust exposure such as exposure compensation and adjust White Balance mode.sometimes i wonder if dslr is really what i want coz i've never touch or use one before.... but i wanna learn to capture nice pics without needing to heavily edit (means i using compact cam now, everytime so time consuming to adjust lighting all that).... like my own cheapo digicam..lumix lz8..i bought at 339 only...it even have aperture /shutter priority... so, for meantime, u can start exploring the full capabilities on your digicam as well as saving up for dslr..digicam isnt that hard to use..but no one ever mess with its settings...have a look on yourself if you dont believe my statements.. |

QUOTE(albnok @ May 25 2011, 11:12 AM) ahpingko: Ah that is what you need a flash gel for - make your flash warm also, so you can set the WB to tungsten, so it doesn't look like 2 different colors. u got any color gel??...i saw your color gel that day during convention..seemed like DIY rite?..how to make it??..I feel you did a good job especially on the last wedding photo. btw, i feel i damn sucks when shooting indoor..especially when i cant ask them to pose for me...i can just shoot faraway..and i realise, my primes is not useful during this kind of shooting... a 16-105 or 18-250 is much useful in this...F2.8 is not in use as well...mostly using F4~F5.6..and i use mostly on 200mm/300mm...to get such a closeup until the face area without them noticing me...pose-wise is very natural...but for me, so hard to shoot it...and at some point, i really no idea what to shoot for...i don like taking group photos... QUOTE(blackwindow @ May 25 2011, 09:37 PM) Haha. thanks yo..i am mostly on Aperture Mode with eV +0.7..and Manual ISO..and AWB (sometimes manual WB to save my time on postprocessing to get my desired color mood)my simple guide for u.. for outdoor daytime: -set A mode -set eV to +0.7 -lowest possible iso (100~200) -for normal shooting, set at F8.. -for nice bokehness, set at F2~F2.8 for nightime/indoor -set A mode -set eV to 0.7 -iso around 800~1600 -set at F4~F5.6, if use external flash, set at F4, trying play with eV and flash eV to get proper lighting + background ambience -bokehness, use F1.8~F2.8.. my noob guide..xD |

QUOTE(albnok @ May 28 2011, 06:48 PM) Wonka: Wah new avatar! Uh what is the message? what is pincushioned??..lold4rkholeang3l: Nice lighting on "Strolling The Jungle", and I like that it's not slanted again, though her pose does look forced. boyzone: Interesting #3. Keep going at it and you will get better! Right now they are just skodeng shots. wingster: Good idea but it dulls the greens badly - perhaps a large softbox would light the flowers better. ahpingko: Nice DSC09611! I like the straightness of it. 9618 is a bit pincushioned though. cjlai: The grasslands shot could be better cropped to the right half of the picture. F43 so damn nice!!!.....how much is it?? |
