QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ May 9 2011, 06:10 PM) learn MF all the way....abandon AF.. btw, mine problem is soft focus on my portrait..i am shooting on F2.2...sometime i get real sharp result..i using local AF all the time and didnt do any focus and reframe, body moving,etc...but i got 1 habit..i am on AF-S and i tend to focus many times...example, i like to keep on press half shutter to make it focus repeatedly...until i feel good then i snap..it is because of this?..i don have any sample of soft focus here as i del on the spot..i will check my photos on a550 as soon as i take then i press zoom 1 time to see whether the close/face portion nicely/sharply focused...but i only get sharp result like 2 out of 10...why ah?.. and, any good guides to learn/master MF all the way?..like how you guys handle samyang 35mm f1.4 etc...or those MF lens easier to use?..lol..if wan to do accurate MF, look thru smal viewfinder or liveview?... Newbieeeeee: my god...why you so damn rich 1..i wanted that fisheye so damn long but still couldnt afford... This post has been edited by ahpingko: May 9 2011, 07:03 PM |

QUOTE(ieR @ May 9 2011, 07:23 PM) ahpingko: +1 MF rocks! so i really need to depend on my MF...any guidance?..i plan to master it in 2 weeks...lol..but i found, when on flash, the focus tend to be better...actually that habit is normal, i also half press few times, but then, i am on AF-A, where the A, during eye start af, will track if the focus on subject is accurate, so during half press, it will lock again and again, till i feel the smooth lock, then full press. it is normal. but the A580 no need, just full press, sure accurate. the AF module has improved another level. newbieee owns money printing machine bahhh... some pic of yesterday photoshoot...i feel so down after shooting...but i tried to save it with my photoshop skills..lol...but still soft... 1st ever time i use my fully functional F42: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « a fully talented young lady..i get the moments but not the sharpness...using F2.2...i focus on her eyes..focus few times still like this...wtf..and i m using prime.. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « with flash but still not very sharp yet..dont know why... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « so i guess, i need to make full use of MF?...for those indoor shoots, i am on full MF, i mean my objects shoots....and i very get used to the sharpness which my primes can give me...but AF really screwed up this time...iER, you in KL? |

QUOTE(kmarc @ May 9 2011, 07:55 PM) I have exactly the same problem on my A550 + 1750f2.8. Focus on eyes but usually backfocus to around the ears. mine is bright or not also same...lowlight will be worse..that time i send back for warrranty got mention that AF not so accurate, i think they dont even bother to do a thorough test on it to see whether a recalibration is needed or not...even i use CZ lens also useless if my AF cant do the job nicely...if i can use MF like AF, how good is that...i shall learn and master it asap...I initially thought it was backfocus issue until I tested further and found that it usually backfocus under lowlight or incandescent light, no matter whether I use my F58 flash (with AF illuminator) or not. Damn irritating but I don't know what to do..... When it's bright, the pictures are damn sharp though.... |

QUOTE(ieR @ May 9 2011, 08:35 PM) ahpingko, the 2nd picture is front focus. not back focus. 3rd pic is ok ler. (add me in msn, imanayAieR at msn dot com) i added you but never see u on9.. faster find the person who calibrated zstan camera liao.... QUOTE(zstan @ May 9 2011, 08:35 PM) iER lar... AF also light up green but not accurate at all..so i guess if MF til green light also same..lol..before that i also lived with manual focus wad... use live view to assist you...if your subject is locked on the green light in your screen's AF point will light up... QUOTE(mastering89 @ May 9 2011, 09:10 PM) Veron83 : nice shot which 1 is cross-type??this 2nd one is mama monyet ahpingko : the local AF is good but sometimes not accurate. i most of the time stick to the cross-type AF points for big big aperture and other AF points for smaller aperture. not to say must use MF all the time, but practice makes perfect. also the 3rd pic looks sharp enuff for me btw, anyone here know who/where can do or offer/sell service of calibration for monitors ?? |

QUOTE(ReasonsofThanatos @ May 9 2011, 10:04 PM) Dude, seems like we have a mutual fren..Cowan Toh..lol lol...cowan..xD...i thought a580 damn good in AF?.. Anyway, I did found problem with my A580's AF too...but im using beercan though, so I safely blamed it on d beercan. Serious hunting issue n though AF is locked on d subject it's not really sharp at d end result. QUOTE(mastering89 @ May 9 2011, 10:18 PM) that one different for different camera model. u kena google or check from manual. wow..my a550 don have such thing.. example, my a33 is something like below. the cross-type AF is the one in pink. ![]() |

QUOTE(ieR @ May 12 2011, 09:16 AM) Raynox is suited for Tele and even macro lens. Because it has min iq lost compare to high iq lost of close up filter. You won't go wrong. i know that..but is it pricy...how bad is the +4 to be use on 75-300...anyone have it?...can try use it @ F8 250mm then post the pic here..i wan to see how bad is the iq reduction..lol.. |

QUOTE(albnok @ May 12 2011, 09:56 PM) ahpingko: Use MF Check LV on your A550. i found a prob if use MF Live View..Point of focus = | -----|------- Zone of focus = <<<|>>> --<<<|>>>---- So you try to use the zone of focus, and you can do this much faster and pretty accurately. Are you recomposing after focusing? http://mhohner.de/recompose.php zstan: The green light wouldn't help - if it is backfocusing the green light will also show. However as the green light stays on in a wide zone, you can choose where in the zone to focus. Telephotos will always incur a speed penalty when focusing. Have you tried any other brand's 600mm F4? Crop the 3 dancers. Too much space on top! Love the colors though. d4rkholeang3l: Nope it's the top and bottom AF point as mastering89's diagram says. azamunekurone: PERGH! cjlai: Nice Flinders shot! Soony: No, just nice for me. However it could be that you're not used to street shooting so you can't shoot that close. Newbieeeeee: If you shoot that much that your shutter needs replacing, you're probably getting paid for it. So it is nothing. Congratulations on your haul! Wonka: Welcome! Cool shot, not the usual happy Danbo stuff. 1. i use MF on Live View, when click shutter, the camera body will move abit..not so sturdy compared to using OVF, coz i press camera body against face... 2. MF Live View, when u click shutter straightaway, the mirror move 1st, then only followed by shutter sound...in between, i tend to move the camera, slightly..lol..natural response.. |
