really glad i found this thread. was kept my eyes on htc for quite sometimes till i noticed that there r lot more of android phones to choose from.

as for a quickie question, which 1 is better than these 2, galaxy ace vs acer liquid metal in overall (price, performance, battery life, bootloader etc), and what makes it better than the other 1?

thanks alot!!
*
Galaxy Ace
Pro:
Large monitor (for the class)
possible Gingerbread update from Samsung
Con:
No Flash

Liquid Metal
Pro:
Snapdragon CPU (=Flash)
pretty nice build
higher resolution (though monitor size is around the same)
Con:
Practically zero support in XDA forum (this can be a real deal breaker, even though hardware is good)

another choice would be SE Xperia X10, and wait for Gingerbread update, or Motorola Defy...

hey man, thanks for the pros & cons suggestion. Xperia X10 seems to be a good deal too since SE has confirmed the upgrade of gingerbread later this year [news]. errmm arghh that makes me even harder to choose from 1 to another hahaha. in term of design, i kinda like Acer Metal and Xperia more compare to Galaxy Ace or Motorola Defy. trying not to be typical, acer might be the choice, but as u mentioned zero support in XDA is really a let down factor. that might left me with Xperia.

do u think which 1 is wiser, i: get it (Xperia X10) now, and upgrade it to gingerbread once its released, or ii: wait for the gingerbread pre-installed version?

thanks to u sifoo

Guys have some Q&A myself on Androids phones.

I'm actually iPhone users and fan as well.. As much as I like the iPhone, I still hate it because of it restriction of using it as a portable hard drive to store videos and music, which always requires me to use iTunes everytime I need to do something with iPhone. >.<

I'm Google fans as well and I really like their Android operating system. But I don't like what they are doing on HTC Aria and SE Xperia which my friends are using. It wasn't as smooth as iPhone when scrolling thru the menu and the internet browser isn't as smooth as the safari does on iPhone, where Android is like slightly choppy effect. Is it this "noticeable lagness" only appears on this 2 phones and not others? Or is there any to fix these?

And also on my previous Symbian Nokia, I can actually turn it into USB drive whenever I plug it into any laptop / desktop. Is this doable in Android?

Cheers :-)

Oh and also, whenever I'm browsing things to download for my friends on the Android market here's some problem as well.

Firefox: Totally lag the whole phone. Only until you uninstall it the phone functions back to normal.

I can't find Skype to install.

Very limited useful software compared to the Apps in iPhone.

Too many bad reviews of downloadable Apps but unusable or lagness problem to the phone when you use it.

abt the lagness... it's all du to the custom UI that the makers put in (HTC Sense, Motoblur, Samsung TouchWiz, SE Rachel, etc)... easy way out is to root the phone and flash a custom ROM which improves performance (most of them do), and better yet, flash to vanilla Android (ie no custom UI) for pure Android experience...

computers will recognize the SD card in the phone as a removable storage...

Firefox's problem is common... switch to another browser, like Dolphin HD, though imho the stock browser is already good enuf...

there is Skype for Android... https://market.android.com/details?id=com.s...e=search_result probably juz not available in MY...

what kind of apps are u looking for in Android? the web Android Market is a good place to start looking: https://market.android.com/

There are many apps for it. There's also an app called Samba Filesharing which allows you to transfer files over the wi-fi regardless of where you are as long as you are connected to the wifi. If you need a phone as smooth as an iPhone, i suggest you wait for upcoming HTC or any stock gingerbread devices. If you do not like having flash(uses loads of data) you can delete the Flash 10.1 and install Skyfire for video viewing only. Its actually up to you. No phones are the same. Each one is unique to the user and to others. Skype can be downloaded directly from skype's website. And we have free "ARR" apps that works.
