i am not familiar with Android phone, but thinking to buy one.
"Free" GPS navigation is my only concern to Android.
Actually, any "free" GPS navigation for Android?
can PM me if not suitable to reply here. smile.gif

buyin a phone bt not fully utilizin the full potential
is tat money well spent or money well throw

how bout we look at it from a more easier point of view

u buy a bmw or how bout a fairlady
u just drive maximum 60 to 80

wont gettin a proton b much more btr

wit tat said
its not bout downgradin the users or drivers here
bt wit the money saved in not gettin a bmw n gettin the proton
u can get some other stuffs n such

so if u are not plannin on usin the internet capabilities
why not save the extra money in buyin a normal phone n use the savings for a rainy day

tat is wat im tryin to tell my gf also
she is eyein the arc ....

Not everyone uses a phone to its full ptential... I have yet to find someone who uses his Android FULL-TIME to read ebooks, navigate with GPS, take photos, take videos, update Facebook, watch YouTube, listen to MP3, listen to radio, watch videos, play games, video call, flash ROMs, etc. Do you do that all the time? For me, if someone does half of that (they don't even need a data line), it's worthwhile already. You might say, "then get a dumbphone", but the features of the smartphone is AVAILABLE to you, and you can use it when you want, just not all the time. No data plan? Got wifi ma... sync when you can lah... no big deal...

Ace is okay if you don't mind not having flash. Overall 7.5/10 phone.

SL has lower ram and a nerfed processor/gpu. Only upside is that you get to try the SC-LCD which is on par with the S-AMOLED(reviews said so). I wouldn't recommend it. Also build quality is similar to SGS. Quite average. For 1-1.5k phones, you can get the Acer Liquid metal which has a better build quality, higher ram than the SL, and stock froyo is available. Though there aren't any custom roms support from XDA and it has a sub par camera but i doubt you can't live with that. RM1100 for ori set.

Every GPS capable phone can use offline GPS maps. Example: Papago x5. Just get someone to install it for you(for a fee of course) or go through the trouble of installing it yourself.

Wildfire is not a good choice. Either go for the Samsung Galaxy Ace(RM980) 5mp cam, 800mhz proc Adreno200(overclocked 7227)Not flash capable, 256(or was it 384)mb ram. Average build quality and hVGA resolution

Acer Liquid metal(RM1160)5mp(Sub par quality), 800mhz with Adreno205(7230) Flash 10.1 capable, 512mb ram. Good build quality and WVGA(800x480) screen resolution

Captivate(RM14xx) 1ghz proc with GTX540(best GPU to date)(also flash capable), Super Amoled screen, 5mp camera(no flash), 512mb ram. Good build quality and WVGA reso

Motorola Defy(RM14xx) 1ghz Adreno 205, Shockproof/waterproof, Gorilla glass, flash 10.1 capable, 5mp camera, 512mb ram, Not sure about build quality and WVGA reso

a little over the budget but

HTC Incredible S(RM16xx AP Set)1ghz adreno 205, good 8mp camera, front camera, 4" screen, 768mb ram. Good build quality and WVGA reso.
