No my ori plan was undermount. Reason being is because I do not want the silicon to be exposed.
My contractor say can only do topmount which is like you say just mount the sink on to the quartz countertop.  It's an easy way out for them.
I am ok with top mount but I don't like the exposed silicon.

If dis is the case, ask ur contractor to undermount.
You got no choice cos definite the silicon expose if top mount.

Just to add, I've asked the Sink Setter dealer in America if the Sink Setter is compatible with granite sinks (since they only advertise it for stainless steel and cast iron sinks).

The reply I got was that it was compatible for some, not for others. He didn't specify which.

In any case, it's not impossible to create your own support system with a bit of ingenuity.

Oh, top mount and undermount sinks will have silicone confirm.

This is because for undermount, you may not notice it but if you see carefully the outer edges where the top and sink are seamlessly joined, silicone is applied there to minimize any leakage although silicone is also applied on the sink lip before mounting the top over the sink.

Usually they will use clear silicone for this and I think the type of silicone used is the higher end range in which it does not turn black or have fungus after a short while.

What I am perplexed why is it heavy to undermount a granite sink? As far as I know, maxxon has a HCE granite sink undermount with quartz countertop. Check out her house thread at post #704, page 36. Pictures are there.

There is also a guy, a home owner from another forum who DIY his own kitchen cabinet set up including sink support.

if the countertop has a roughtop (plywood base for the countertop), you can use those clips to secure the undermount sink. if concrete base, still can use those wall plugs. if still no confidence, can put a piece of wood at the bottom of the sink to secure it. tongue.gif

I am one of those who undermount my sink as well. So far fingers crossed no issue. I think the biggest concern of undermounting a granite sink is the total weight of the sink when it's with dishes.

I also plan to get an undermount sink for wet kitchen. Any shop can recommend to me? Do we need to look for those branded sink? I saw most of the sinks from China, don’t know it is a real stainless steel sink.

I like the size and depth. There's actually a shorter version (36") but I might as well go for the larger one to go on the kitchen island. The accessories come with the sink. Even has a storage rack specifically for these accessories as seen below.

Yeah, pricing is pretty steep. This sink range and the faucet model (Kohler Karbon Articulating Faucet) is specifically for N.American/European markets. You have to special order from the local Kohler dealer. Funny enough, the main dealer was unresponsive to my queries about these items. I had to look for another dealer who connected me to the Sarawak dealer (there is no dealer in Sabah) and gave me a quotation.

But since this is our forever home, we're willing to splurge a bit. tongue.gif

No. Kraus and Kohler different brands

I just cite kraus as an example in TaoBao because you won't be able to find that many related searches for Kraus sinks compared to Amazon. Saw a few forumers from another forum, mention Kraus is actually called Sellena in Taobao.

Believe can find Kohler sink if you look hard in Taobao or Tmall
