QUOTE(madfag @ Mar 30 2011, 03:58 PM) the England fans of rival clubs might have huge problems with what he has done but I dont see any player in the England squad making a fuss about Terry returning as captain. maybe theres one or two...rio and bridge prolly, haha......well the manager has made the decision, i don't think anyone's gonna object to that. Terry is a good captain no doubt and if England is playing better under that circumstances then it'd be best to leave at thatwell, i too dont know what exactly is the impact of a captain in a football team but im sure there is a boost of morale if certain players are captain. no? hmmmm, then should joe hart be captain? a keeper rarely changes so the arm band doesnt get passed around. i cant think of even one outfield player who cements a spot. even lampard is rumoured to be dropped ahead of wilshere. First it was Meireles who went on a scoring spree for us. Then it is Kuyt who cannot stop scoring even for Holland. Now Carroll has re-opened his scoring even though it was England.
I thought it was a very well taken goal following a good combination between the two Villa players. Instinctive, sharp and a great shot - cannot wait for Carroll to do the same for LFC against West Brom this weekend! Hope there're no more international games involving our players. So important that they are kept fit and raring to go! Suarez and Carroll will definitely play up front, with Lucas, Meireles and Kuyt sure to line up in midfield. I expect to see Carra, Johnson, Skrtle and Reina in defence. Will Kelly return? will the fifth defender be Agger, Sotiros or Aurelio? |

Nice one! He's going to me a massive player for us in the next few years. And it seems Comolli believes it as well.
"One of the first things I did after I arrived was to look at the contract situation and to see where Lucas was at. I knew we had to do something quickly because we couldn't afford to lose him and didn't want to lose him. "If you look at his playing record he started 46 games last year in all competitions and this year it will be between 45 and 50. He is exactly what we want. He has the right mentality, quality and attitude. He understands what this club is all about and even though the discussions went on for quite a long time he always said to me 'I want to stay and we need to find a solution'. "Considering his performances on the pitch with us and with Brazil, and his attitude around the place - off the pitch he's a great professional, totally committed and dedicated and it's always team first when you speak to Lucas - that's why we wanted him to stay. The celebration at Sunderland with the players after he'd had his baby shows that the other players were very happy for him and shows he is a team player. "He could have gone to many clubs because he is highly rated around Europe, but he always said he wanted to play for Liverpool." |

I've just got a hunch that Lucas will be important for us next season and will be leading Brazil out maybe in the next world cup.

On a more sombre note, it looks like we're going down the path Arsenal did when they sold the naming rights to their stadium. I'm hoping we don't have to move unless absolutely necessary.
QUOTE Liverpool actively seeking stadium naming rights deal, but insist Anfield will not rebranded It's a different game these days and it seems that to remain competitive we have sell our soul bit by bit. The name "Anfield" has long been synonymous with great European nights. It was Shankly that first brought it to the attention of the world and it was Bob Paisley who cemented it. Another long standing tradition will be lost here. It has been customary for Liverpool players, especially the local lads to touch the "This is Anfield" plaque above the tunni as the players exit to the field prior to each game. The plaque isn't placed there merely for decoration. As Shankly put it, "the sign is to remind our players who they are playing for and the opposition, who they are playing against". Liverpool's newly-appointed managing director Ian Ayre has revealed the club are actively seeking stadium naming rights partners should they move to a new stadium. The club's owners, Fenway Sports Group, have made clear that boosting Liverpool's gate receipts through an increased capacity is central to their plans to restore the side to former glories. They have yet to make any official decision on whether that will be achieved through building a new stadium or redeveloping their current home. Speaking at the SoccerEx forum in Manchester today, Ayre said the club are seeking naming rights partners should they move to a new stadium. However, the club are keen to stress that their current home would not be renamed should they stay put. Arsenal earned £100 million for a 15-year naming rights deal with the airline Emirates, though that also included an eight-year shirt sponsorship clause. Liverpool see the sphere as one the club needs to exploit if they are to make ground on Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea in terms of off-pitch income. |

I'm hoping we don't have to move unless absolutely necessary. while i share your sentiment i think it is one of the best options to boost our income and to be able to compete at the highest levels of football. arsenal played shakily when they first moved to the emirates stadium, but the statistics don't lie. they averaged about 15k seats more than anfield in attendance and over the course of one season, arsenal will easily make over 10mil in profit extra compared to liverpool, that's how the game is played now. i still think highbury is a great stadium, but setting arsenal as an example, it's not necessarily a path not worth exploring. It's a different game these days and it seems that to remain competitive we have sell our soul bit by bit.
