Caroll looks disinterested for sure. Not sure if its due to europa league tiredness or homesickness of newcastle.

QUOTE(hfi @ Mar 20 2011, 11:46 PM)
Not a bad a game. Big head Bruce must be furious, his team started really well .. played some really nice football, where as we were all over the place. I reckon the game would have ended differently had we not been gifted that penalty. But its football and we've seen far strangest things i.e. the beach ball last season.

Reina had a quiet game and i thought we were defensively sound.

The midfield was initially terrible but gained foothold as the game progressed. Quite happy with Lucas's performance - was tidy and was probably one of the few 'footballers' we had out there today. Spearing was tenacious but easily deceived. Meireles was probably the worst midfielder on the pitch, not sure what he was doing for large part of the game.

Our 3 forwards seem a bit out of sync at the moment. Carroll obviously needs time to gel with the rest but other than those headers, he was terrible. Doesn't look up for a pass, poor on the ball, and seem to be easily flustered. Kuyt was pretty much himself today - nothing fancy, worked his bollocks to make sure we don't get overun. Suarez was yet again, our main goal threat. He's going to be either the most loved or hated footballer in EPL. Not that is a bad thing. He's just so demanding and will go the distance for the win.

On the suarez part, I guess he really need to control his temper. Second game in a row, he shouted at linesman and this time not so lucky for him, a yellow for him... biggrin.gif

3-5-2 seems KK favourite formation in an away game these days...against west ham we also used 3-5-2...carra,skrtel & agger dont have much work to do containing sunderland attack rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Our defence was very solid thanks to the returning dagger.Still not impressed with skrtel pulling down opponents.

meireles seems to be on a poor run.our midfield just isnt the same without gerrard.

Joe cole is starting to look like his old self.Should've came on earlier instead.

Why wes brown played at CB when Vidic is suspended and not Rafael?Simply because that's not his position.

Same thing here. Spearing is a cm, replacing Gerrard.
Pacheco, on the other hand, is playing as second striker/striker. Logic?

my point of view...
  • Another slow start against another lesser team. Luckily this time we didn't punish by another early goal.
  • ..and Carra is now our new Alonso? he's not going to make an overlapping run so he keeps playing long ball forward. But we had no choice but to play him as a fullback since we're out of option.
  • another note, playing Meireles on the flank is somehow limiting his contribution... it was a mistake made by Roy, hope Kenny will find another solution.
  • Somehow I'm impress with Sunderland's wide play. Unfortunately, they lost two players in first 30 mins, conceded a controversial penalty, got man sent off... bad day for them.
  • For the first time I feel like the official is on our side. Very odd feeling.
  • Suarez, why on earth don't we get him sooner?

Cole came on 88minutes, and that few minutes make him look like himself. I dunno... Too fast to judge, no?

it was an ugly game. needless yellow cards here and there. except for the sent off it was a right decision. overall, wasn't a great game for Liverpool but they managed to secure 3 points which proven to be vital with Spurs draw yesterday. Great goal by Suarez. Like i mentioned before, the penalty was controversial since Spearing was fouled outside the box but it's football and referee bound to make mistake. some people may said it was karma for Sunderland regarding the beach ball incident but to me that was purely nonsense. Liverpool players picked up their game after the penalty and secure the win.

Carroll still have to get his fitness and sharpness back. He looked threathening. but not sharp enough. Lucas was oustanding but not Meireles. had a poor game from his usual awesome standard. probably due to fatigue? no way. but still, a good 3 points and bounce back by KD.

We got alternatives actually... We can play Carra Skrtel at the center and Agger Glenny at the flanks...A bit surprising for KD to play Carra out wide.

I think he's trying to emulate Benny. Impact-sub / super-sub kinda of a thing.

If u compare to maxi, meireles and carroll they rarely chased sunderland players.Joe cole looked bright- constantly looking to make a pass and receiving it back.

indeed.. both Agger and Johnson can offer a lot more in attack especially when our wide man is not actually a wide man.

He came on with only 6 minutes left on the clock when everyone else is already knackered. He doesnt look fit to me, and a bit over weight.
