SEREMBAN: Cops busted an alleged black metal concert held at a hall here and rounded up 105 youths.

The group had used the name of Persatuan Cekak Silat to apply for a permit to hold a show at an association hall here.

However, they allegedly turned it into a black metal concert and danced away for more than five hours on Saturday before the police arrived to put a stop to it. 

It was learnt that the police had information that the organisers were carrying out activities that were against Islam and had planned to end their performance with a satanic worship session and sex. 

However, District OCPD Asst Comm Hasanuddin Hassan said initial investigations did not indicate activities that broke the law or went against the religion.

"The raid was carried out to ensure the group did not break the law," he said, adding that the police also carried out urine tests on concert-goers.

The organisers of the show at the Negri Sembilan Ceylonese Association hall had also allowed the concert to go beyond the allocated time.

The police raided the place at 8.20pm and rounded up several youths, including four women, aged between 20 and 30 years old. 

Some of them, it was learnt had come from as far as Singapore and Perlis. 

ACP Hasanuddin said 30 youths had tested positive for drugs and three persons were handed over to the state religious department on suspicions they had committed acts contrary to Islam.

Malaysia's New Straits Times is reporting that three Singaporean men were charged in the magistrate's court on Thursday (Dec. 8) for using drugs during a "black metal" concert in Seremban, Malaysia last Saturday (Dec. 3).

Two of them, Abdul Malik Abdul Aziz, 34, from Apartment Block 36, South Avenue, and Mohamed Rosni Kadir, 32, from Block 114, Bedok North, claimed trial.

The third person, Azhar Ali, 24, from Apartment Block 669 Damai Road, pleaded guilty.

They were charged with using methamphetamine at the district police station between 8pm and 11pm on Dec. 3.

Chief Inspector E. Saroja prosecuted. Magisrate Suhaila Haron set bail at RM2,000 with one surety pending mention on Dec. 29.

New Straits Times reported on Sunday that police detained 105 youths, including four women, believed to be followers of black metal music at a hall in Jalan Sungai Ujong.

The youths, mostly in their 20s, were from Seremban and other places, including Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Hasanudin Hasan, who confirmed the arrests, said police received a report at 2pm of a group of people with "suspicious and violent" behaviour in the hall.

"We monitored the situation and found there were activities of a violent nature going on in the hall. We decided to detain the youths at 8.20pm," he said.

Hasanudin said the group cooperated with the police and did not resist arrest.

He, however, refused to divulge the exact nature of the activities held in the hall.

Thirty of those detained, including three from Singapore, tested positive for drug use.

Three youths were referred to the State Religious Affairs Department for counselling while the others were released after their statements were taken.
