Has anyone seen the dvd 'Evergrey - A night to remember - Live in Gothernberg'? U guys should get this dvd - it's so damn good! Durian ones available (hint *bangsar*). Got Nightwish's dvd there too.

btw - someone asked about opera-goth...well, Nightwish of course. Then Xandria and Within Temptation is quite good too.

Is Taja really leaving Nightwish? Very sad huh?

that shop in b'sar apparently has lotsa concerts...so i wont be surprised if someday it wud have End of Innocence...looking for that as well. I presume could probably get that in Pertama but normallly it'd be the vcd version...

but seriously, if you could get hold of Evergrey, grab it!

I just read the brutal history of Mayhem...gosh, this is one sick band! hehe...not sure why but i'm not really looking forward to see them after reading their stories...prefer something a bit normal. They have it all it seems - blasphemy, brutality, suicide, murder...hmm...what a life!! Sad but true!?

Heard one of their songs too - gosh, the distortion sounds soo much like my fuzzy Boss HM-2 which i dont really in comparison to other distortion pedals...perhaps is this the staple sound for any black metal band?

For me the stand above the crowd in terms of their own music style (a mixed of sister of mercy gothic guitar riffing+melodic harmony etc). Too many  so called band jumping on the gothic bandwagon currently but yet theres one band from Taiwan called SERAPHIM which sounds a lil bit like Nighwish.. do check them out! nod.gif

yeah...i'm old too (33 this year! haha!)...dug only the 'famous' thrash bands in my teenyears...but for some strange reason, at this age, when you get confused on the music you're supposed to like, i kinda like Nightwish as well, ever since i saw their live DVD - damn good!....but have they gotten a new singer to replace Tarja?

And been a massive fan on Evergrey too (also ever since i saw the live DVD...bands with damn good live concert DVD are really2 something, aren't they?) Gosh...this band can really deliver live man, with really2 nice guitar solos to top their majestic presence!

and i think that's 'metal' enough for me at this age folks if u wanna talk about newer metal bands...even though these bands might not be that 'metal' per se, they're still a lot lot better than all the what kids now call nu-metal....haha....

Korn? never liked Korn before...hate the current one more...

bring back Kreator to KL anytime man! Ain't Enemy of The God a fabulous album?

ok...enough of me blabbering here...

I dunno but I still prefer thrash over any other metal that exist nowadays.

bring back the late thrashing 80s yeah!

i actually progressed to thrash when i got my first Iron Maiden live after death cassete in 86 - then heavy metal didn't seem enough. Got exposed to Metallica's justice then Kreator's extreme aggression in 88/89....huhu...my thrashing skool days...got boot cut jeans some more... Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Anthrax (Joey Belladona of course!)...these were great names back then!

anybody here went to the first Konsert Thrash Metal in Stadium Negara 1988? i wanted to go but i was in a boarding skool too far from KL....hmm...

Hahahahaha.....Banyak orang tua reminiscing old times suddenly!?!? ok la...gua pun sudah tua....32yrs old and still headbanging to old and new metal sounds. One thing that we all cant deny is, everyone who listens to metal , will always progress to something heavier. so to all those who still thinks slipknot or trivium is DA SHIT/DA BOMB, go and get SYL, Emperor, level up.
My recent cd = STORMBLAST MMV by Dimmu Borgir (RM19.90, "Original" by asialink) . This record was exactly what i needed- Straight no bullshit atmospheric black metal ( almost 90% sound alike Enthrone Darkness Triumphant album). Highly recommended.
Oh yeah, to all those guys singing praises to Trivium, i think its a matter of time u get bored with their sound...heheheh....
*
i got into thrash but never really graduated into something more heavier...coz i guess the ol skool thrash is already loud and fast enough for me...tried getting into death metal but it just seemed 'plain' although it's really darker than thrash...black metal is a bit funny for me...hehe

guess i'm into fast riff and pounding drums...and killer solos...

who's older than 33 here btw?

valentine sound production - earache - scott burns - those were the days! hehe...

anyone saw this thrash metal documentary back in the late 80s entitled 'Thrash Till Death'. It focused on the thrash scene in Florida back then....all the gods of thrash were featured in there...

gosh, damn good video. I still have it but it's not playable coz it's full of fungus now! haha...doubt i could revive it to live again, or is there a technology to do so to 'clean' this bugger?

in only know napalm's cover of nazi punks...huhu...pogoed with them in this small pub in my uni back in 96...they stopped in my uni for a private gig before they toured paris...i think they were like less than 20 guys who were at the gig when it first started...and i bet some of the Brits there had know idea who these guys were.

actually i never dig them - but since it's very bizarre for my uni to have a big metal band like that to come to play, i became one of the promoters for the big. Tix for the gig was like 5 quid only...hehe...

i was actually an active member of my uni Heavy Metal society there...everybody in the society/club was dressed in black...and it was an legit uni club...just like the chess club or the ballroom dancing club!

The cool part was that my club's president was a girl...not a hot chick, but damn brutal-looking i tell ya...always in black lipsticks and leathers..

(i feel like i've told this story before here...tapi bila ya? getting old i think...haha...but anyways those were the days...)

last few weeks I saw CD and the ex-guitarist of Inf. Maggot (forgot his name) browsing for some musical instruments in Uptown music store...asked them if they're still doing metal - they simply answered - 'no'. Hehe...time has really changed huh?

and they told me that the new Maggots are all different guys now...no more Fathul...Actually I think i've seen most of Maggots's performance back in the day (got their debut album btw...of course in cassette form - 'deep within the gried factory milk runs red' or something...awesome)...

don't think i remember seeing Silkhannas play those days...probably coz i normally attended multi-genre music gigs at Piccad but often skip those pure metal gigs. But luckily got to see them play during their recent stint at Planet last year - for Langsuir's album launch. Great live performance from Silkhannas...but of course, that time, there's no more CD khanzab on guitars...they had this other dude...still an excellent guitarist though...

yeah...the underground days were really different those days. I dont give a hoot about the scene now...furthermore, tried to attend some newer band gigs before - was never impressed coz i think most so-called bands now do not have the 'umpph' to play live properly...and what's with that low C no-standard tuning sh*t...hehe...psychadelic ler konon...har har...

i've got a so-not metal query here? anyone remember watching The Splatters play those days?? damn...weren't they awesome! As and his Mohawk...hehe...

ps - on the punk note, i saw The Exploited play when they did their secret gig last year...Wattie's one damn cool dude man...

'fathulistiwa' is quite a weird album...but kinda refreshing to some extent...listened to only a few songs though

but early maggots is still weirder...haha...i actually do not know what sort of music these guys were playing those days...indsutrial grind metal or some sh*t like that...maybe it was just beautiful lo-fi noise...

danielwan - As was a johnny rotten wannabe - but in a cool way! hehe...gosh how i love to see them play Anarchy those days -

anyone dig Megadeth's Anarchy cover btw?

Nightwish is acceptable somehow... but I don't dig really dig 'em.

I have heard a lot of ppl were against Evanescence, claiming that they weren't metal. So for me... the same goes for Lacuna Coil or Within Temptation, ain't metal either.

But somehow you got the point... me not an Euro-Metal kinda fan ...lolz
*
I think there are some songs from Within Temptatation which is kinda metal - with vocal growls too...got one vcd concert of them. Quite cool...

the problem with evanescence is their guitar riffs are more slanting towards nu-metal...too simplistc and inda suck...if they could just put more melodic iron-maiden sorta riffs, and more gleaming guitar solos - then there cud probably be on par with the music from the scandanavian metal. But i guess that's the main difference between metal from America and Europe nowadays...(not that i care so much about them anyway)

Nightwish is just unique - who would have thought combining opera and melodic metal would be cool? Metalasia tried this opera style too for this one song with Ning Baizura. Not too bad, but i'm bias coz I dig Metalasia very much - those appregios....daymn!

Wish i cud see Metalasia play soon someday. Anyone got news on them?
