QUOTE(mcbarney666 @ Aug 1 2008, 08:01 AM) I'm assuming that BFMV is Bullet For My Valentine? If so, then they have no place to be in a metal thread. how bout MCR? The elitist in me screams agony when I see such bands mentioned in the same breath as Slayer, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Having nice melodies, nice riffs, nice drumming, nice whatever doesn't make it metal. Metal is so much more than just teenage angst. anyway, i would like to into two bands to the thread Eluveitie (celtic death metal) this band is good, the bland of celtic music and metal music is just enough. unlike most metal bands where their songs get boring after the first few tracks, this one actually keeps one interested with a mix of this and that its on the proggy side. celtic instrumental anyone? slania would be an album worth while checking into. owh dont think its about nerds singing about LOTR its death metal. orphaned land (middle eastern folk + prog death) look up this album, mabool. it WILL blow you away, its prog at its unbelievable best. they were ok with their previous album, something like dark tranquility, there were hints here and there about what they are cabable of. but mabool just let everything go, and its a religiously themed album (no they dont sing jesus is great, but about the ark and the few religions). everything runs perfect, the mix of middle eastern styles and instruments is a really fresh outtake on metal and they do it really well ( its not one middle eastern run here and there, you have middle eastern precussions ringing at the back of a very heavy song). if you think prog metal is about DT and symphony x and expect something similar to that, i ask you to look away both albums dont have that much wanking. but if you really want to know where prog metal can bring you? these two are musts. another album and band i recommended was the ocean, look up their latest. untill i find more good siht or stuff like that |

QUOTE(+3kk! @ Aug 6 2008, 12:47 AM) QUOTE(perverdz @ Aug 6 2008, 01:37 PM) thats quite a challenging listen... but a rewarding one if you got the patience. Precambrian is a must while I'm driving.takes a while for me to 'get it'... And on weekends while i jog. QUOTE(mcbarney666 @ Aug 6 2008, 03:27 PM) Which one? The early stuff (Considered Dead) or the new one? |

Piss-poor metal or in general, crap, is enough to make me sleep.Go listen to some underground funeral doom stuff, challenge yourself not to fall asleep And metal is not just music.
