Hi guys

Ill be going on a backpacker trip alone to Korea this mid July;
Need some info while I'm in the process of planning my itinerary

1. I need to be connected 24/7, where can I rent a phone with unlimited 3G data surfing using the iPhone? Mainly use for navigation n informing family of my whereabouts.

2. I have 6 days: shud I head out of Seoul to other towns? If so, which town would u highly recommend?

3. Is traveling alone in Korea generally safe for a female?

4. Also is bus & transportation an issue? English signs available?

How do u guys navigate ur way in Korea? I heard that street names r all in Korean? No English letters?

Lastly; anyone going mid of July backpacking too? Don't mind a travel buddy

Cheers

I also visit seoul for 6 days last winter u can refer my blog here http://mafilee.blogspot.com/..

Very safe environment we are goin out from 10am and be back 10PM - 12PM every day. there is no issues with security. Police booth is everywhere..

If you taking subway you can see tourist info booth at main tourist attraction.. they can speak very basic english and very helpful .. sometime they provide you map and guide you how to go ur destination..

Remember this number 1330..if u lost.. u can contact this number and they also can be ur translator..this number very helpful one..

For those who desperately need to change Korean Won at KLIA.
Better change it after check in. I change it at the departure hall, cheapest rate can get is 3.1 but inside can get 2.91
Thank God I only change few hundred.
Central Market ( near KFC, corner) got quite good rate for Korean Won. Last time I check is 2.78 but during that time Bank Negara rate is only 2.69. Wawasan rate seriously not for Korean Won

Yes wawasan is not the best when comes to Won. Anyway still a good benchmark and minus ~ RM0.03 out from Wawasan to get the idea of what you can get from some better priced Money changers in KL & PJ

they're using the 2 round pin plug.. it's best you buy the international adapter in Malaysia, coz my friend who forgot to bring it were unable to find the adapter in Korea, ended up borrowing mine to charge her phone everyday..

The most important for me is the socket type. Korea is using the 2 pin type similar to Indonesia & Thailand if I'm not mistaken. Well, most of M'sian appliances also moving towards 2 pins..So not a prob...For current no idea..All the countries that I visited. I just plug-in..so far nothiong happened haha..Including SK.
