QUOTE(hazwan_aviator @ Mar 9 2011, 10:02 PM) Yes, but to be specific, only Nikon 50mm f/1.8D, Nikon 50mm f/1.4D and Nikon50mm f/1.4G are still in production.Unsure about the AI-S 50mm f/1.2 and 50mm f/1.4, I think still in production too (please correct me if I'm wrong) But never forget Sigma 50mm f/1.4, still in production too |

For me, Sigma 50mm is better than 50mm 1.4G in term of sharpness but not WEIGHT.Unsure about the AI-S 50mm f/1.2 and 50mm f/1.4, I think still in production too (please correct me if I'm wrong) But never forget Sigma 50mm f/1.4, still in production too Note : Only for good copy of Sigma. |

Not till you mention, I still thinking that 50mm f/1.8D is DX lens instead of FX Unsure about the AI-S 50mm f/1.2 and 50mm f/1.4, I think still in production too (please correct me if I'm wrong) But never forget Sigma 50mm f/1.4, still in production too Would there be much different or big advantage between 50mm f/1.4G vs 50mm f/1.8D? My friends getting it this Saturday, I'm just wondering if I should tag one piece along. Price offered is RM380, perhaps further negotiation available. What do you guys say? |

Something goes like this:Would there be much different or big advantage between 50mm f/1.4G vs 50mm f/1.8D? My friends getting it this Saturday, I'm just wondering if I should tag one piece along. Price offered is RM380, perhaps further negotiation available. What do you guys say? f/1.4 will gain 70% more light than f/1.8 but will reduce don't know many % of sharpness (If I'm not mistaken is 20%?)... Uh, I better let someone else do the explanation... Anyway, RM380 for f/1.8D is standard price, try to cut to RM370 perhaps? |

QUOTE(ezrasang @ Mar 9 2011, 10:51 PM) The differences... Hmm, I remember Andy214 did mention before.... Something goes like this: Initially the sales guy agree to give out at RM380 with a standard filter + cleaning kit set. Now, not sure what his offer a week later and we're not buying cams this time f/1.4 will gain 70% more light than f/1.8 but will reduce don't know many % of sharpness (If I'm not mistaken is 20%?)... Uh, I better let someone else do the explanation... Anyway, RM380 for f/1.8D is standard price, try to cut to RM370 perhaps? Yeah, I do read that some dislike the 50mm f/1.4G for losing sharpness at max aperture. Therefore preferring 35mm f/2D or 50mm f/1.8D. Still crossing my fingers whether to grab it or not |
