i don't believe it will be true. I don't think we need another striker unless Owen leave next season but Macheda are coming back to we have sufficient strikeforce there. SAF will surely strengthen the midfield next season. surely Giggs and Scholes will be unable to play week in and week out. GK area will have new face too but i'm not sure about Defence area.

by the way, Kolo Toure suspended over drugs.

It's starting to get a bit worrying whether Scholes will sign a new contract or not, but from experience, he tends to not want to discuss contracts before the season is over.

Most likely we'll see the contract extension just before or after the season ends.

Regardless, I've always been a strong advocate that we need a new creative midfielder and that some of our 2nd string just aren't cut out for the job. Unfortunately, people just brush me off and say I'm not supportive of our young players. *shrugs*

Scholes and giggs . I think tis will shut saf mouth from saying other team have old player
*
'other' team have majority of old and players.. tahts true, nothing wrong on saying that, but SAF never have said that nod.gif

yes scholes and giggs is old, but none of 'other' team majority of old players have the same magnitude of achievement and experience, in fact miles away far from it... not even close smile.gif

ps- SAF said that 'other' team have peaked players, that means players that are at the peak of their career/at the most of their full potential

I second that. biggrin.gif

We seem to be full of future plan for defenders, strikers and even goalkeeper, but not midfielder. The current bunch of the youngster we have, they just couldn't live up to the expectation of being United's core for creative play. We need that little bit of flair, like what Scholes and Giggs been doing from season to season, with all those instinctive pass, long range killer pass, a moment of genius play, etc. We need a creative attacking midfielder to help supplying balls to the strike force in future. cool.gif

Time to invest on wonderkidz again? laugh.gif

So far our young players nowhere near Scholes' level when he was a kid. Gibson is a carrick type of player. Maybe Anderson have the future to be our creative supplier. Cleverly, combative too. not that i say they weren't good except that they are not scholes type of player.

Doubt its true. Your club has a policy not to sign over aged stars at premium prices. If not for this practice, Gabriel "The Angel" Batistuta, one of my favourite strikers of all time, would have ended his career in a red kit.

Honestly, I struggle to find anything good about Gibson to talk about and many people I know say the same. He just doesn't have any redeeming qualities besides banging the balls from range, and that's no good if you don't get a shooting chance like that.

More combative midfielders aren't a bad thing, except when we have too many of those it means we are over-reliant on our wingers to be the supply line. Look at how many of our wingers are sidelined, cases like that spell BAD.

Why is a creative midfielder crucial? We can rest Scholes more, for one, and not have to overwork him. We can play a more attacking formation, and not need to sacrifice Rooney as the forward responsible for dragging defenders out of position.

There are other things, but I'm not expert. Suffice to say, getting a new CMF can only be beneficial.

P/S: Gibson fans don't bite me please. sweat.gif

yeah. same here. the last time we signed a striker over 30s was Henrik Larrson and Teddy Sheringham but only for a small fee.

yeah. i understand what u mean. Gibson have that potential. hopefully he can improve his workrate and distribution then he can be a top player. Hopefully Park and Valencia will return soon. We relied on Nani too much.

ouh Teddy. My favourite player when I started supporting United back days then.

Latest one was Micheal Owen.

somehow i feel that this gibson's "potential" hasnt been improving at a desirable rate. Especially if compared to the likes of Rafael, or Chicharito. maybe he's a late bloomer? who knows....only SAF and the coaching staff that has the experience to anticipate these things.

i feel that too. he was explosive last year then suddenly his development stop. last season he can fill in for Fletcher but this season he's not quite a proper replacement for any of our midfielders.

Hopefully SAF prepare to spend that kind of money. i would like an attacking midfielder to track back for defending. like Modric.

Ballack did well during his stint at Chelsea except that he dodged by injury too often.

If only we went for Ozil earlier in the summer, I think he only went out for like 10+million GBP or Euros to Real Madrid? That was a real bargain IMO.

Personally I prefer Sweinsteiger to Sneijder. But the problem with German players is not so much so that they can cope or not, rather it is whether they WANT to leave or not. Especially when Sweinsteiger is in a club like Bayern Munich, a club that rarely sells their best players.
