let me give you an example. on my old fat ps3, i had 12 hour marathons playing White Knight Chronicles for 3 days grinding for loot. a few days later, it had YLOD symptoms. everytime i try to switch it on, it would beep 3 times and shut down by itself. that's when i realized i killed my ps3 by playing it like that.

slim ps3 won't die so easily as the fat ps3 but better to take care of it instead of abusing it like a troll 24/7. i guess the slim can last as long as 5 years if you take care of it.

lets if you play alot but not on marathons per say 7-8 hrs but spaced out lets say 2 hrs each or some thing like that, should it be ok right?

Apparently it was my hdmi cable that was the culprit. Anyways, it seems when i turn Deep Color feature, i will get the rainbow pixels around the screen.

i have a samsung lcd that can support 1080..recently bought new sony ex72 tv but when i plug ps3 i can only set to 720..if i set to 1080 no picture will come out.. i even go to sony center to check their ps3 setting and they manage to get 1080..could be the cable issue? but i can use with my samsung lcd with 1080..any suggestion? thanks..

that should be ok. you can even play it for 4 hours a day and it's still okay. just make sure you put the ps3 on a place that has plenty of ventilation.

l suggest giving more space to your ps3. it's too near to the wall. What is that big thing on the right of the ps3?

really? the space between my ps3 and the wall around 10 inch. while the space between my ps3 and my rig is 4 inch.

oh. that my rig. using haf 922 case. kinda hardcore pc gamers back then. just migrate to console about a month.

I'm using a 40gb fat ps3. Used it for 3 years. Lately when I switch it on, then it will beep led turn from green to yellow then finally blinking red. It has to be reset many times before it starts working. Pls help
