sharpness is damn high i know...90mm really damn tight too..


but i see some wedding photographer using bazooka lens....those white lens...that ma lagi cham?...they can shoot full body portrait of couple...how come??... ..and i didnt see them stand till across the street wor...

that one is starting 70mm mah!

this one can shoot whole kampung already...

after consideration, i keep my 50mm...selling 18-55 at 300 and 30mm macro at 700...30mm very very new...who interested???...bought on 6 Mar...

btw, my kitlens come with body..so how about its warranty?..same with body?..i just register that body..didnt reg for that lens..how ah??...no warranty?

some general rule of thumb.
The magnitude of the defocus or bokeh can be calculated by Focal length divide by the largest F number.

30/1.8 = 16.7
90/2.8 = 32.14

sp90 should have 'more' bokeh.

But still, your defocus magnitude is still depend on how far the background to your subject relative to the distance from your camera to the subject.

eh no one using P system filter?

im not using cokin original P filter type,but im using imitation known as tian ya..

from what i see,
there got no leaking issue even though my filter are not genuine,as long as u got the right lens with the right adapter,thats all.but if u are using UWA,for apsc u will get vigenetting from 14mm below and 20mm below for FF.might as well get the p type holder for wide angle,thats more convenient!

if u are planning for FF and currently in APSC,take a look at samyang 14mm f2.8 prime.its a prime,nice price tag,good sharpness but MF only.minolta/sony never create a prime below than 16mm (that is fish-eye) and also 20mm for wide prime..

i got a good buy with the imitation p type filter :adapter ring+holder+GND+ND4+ND8 = RM126
if u gonna buy the ori one,last i ask about rm100 more than the imitation all complete excluding the GND

but i think its a good buy la the P series.no need to buy a color filter one coz u can already done it in photoshop.better buy the big stopper type of filter!

ahpingko: the kitlens warranty goes with the camera body. the serial is attach to the body. so when u send in for warranty, u have to send it in with the body. u will unable to register the kitlens as the serial does not exist.

8tvt: Cokin P series owner here.
light leak? light leak only happen if the source of light is stronger then bg/environment, and at a very corner away from your filter.

from all the landscape i shoot, no issue.

GND is best use on holder then filter base. yes, because u can adjust the height.

tian ya is cheaper alternate, but digicolor sell same holder as tianya manufacturer for less then rm20 if u wan go budget.
tian ya or other cheaper/alternate filter can cause iq lost, but seriously, its unnoticable with naked eye.

i spend over 700 on cokin system, and i uses it less then i expected. rather spend the 700 on 30 F2.8 M

eddybeh: always remember, u may seek sharpness at 100% zoom, but at >10mp, naked eye cant see any diff at fullHD resolution LCD(2.1mp). i rather go zoom for versatility.

the rule of thumb of bokeh index = focal length divide by largest aperture is sooooo misleading. there is so many variable to take into account.

you see, the index works on a fix distance. let say 5 meter, u get all those index. but problem is, 35mm composition and a 100mm composition is diff, on crop whole body, one crop of the head, surely the head looks more bokehlicious. but if i were to take the 35mm and move closer (say 2meter) to have the same composition of the head (100mm), u get about the same bokeh too(very variable).

here is a better example. 200mm vs 50mm.

said 200/2.8 = 71, but u have to stand 25 meter away... u risk of shake if u got low shutter (lower then 1/200 as rule of thumb shutterspeed = 1/focal length), and u have background (say a building) is 50 meter away. your distance ratio you to subject to the building is 1:2.

say 50/1.4 = 35 only (low, booo). but u can stand only 5 meter away to get the same composition, and u only require 1/60 speed to get a sharp picture, and... the fun part, the bokeh ratio rule of thumb that people uses too (which is not very accurate too) is that, my distance to subject to building is 1:10! wont i have a greater bokeh?

so i proved that focal length divide by largest aperture bokeh index is a myth...

take a torch light, now, imagine, how can u get the torch light to creep in from the corner, which angle?. now, imagine this, the sun has to be 'that' position to even have light creep in.

k, now i need to make sure the light source not coming through the gap..
haha.. lol never use so not sure if the bright sun really can get through from any angle..

from what i know,the algorithm goes like this

lens + short filter distance = good IQ
lens + long filter distance = bad IQ
lens + long filter distance + too many distance = really sucks..

but when shooting landscape, i dont really AF.i do manual focus with small apeture with infiniti focus

can just buy² like that eh? the filter size, holder everything is using the standard size for any imitation brand?

the imitation copy-cat the cokin p series 99%.so the different between original and imitation is the material only.filter size is 82mm diameter like P series..


what u need to know,is what diameter of ur lens that u will be using this cokin p series!
